Class Activity 2 Marks & Spencer Group is a leading department store chain in the United Kingdom. Its retail pencer should tailor merchandise more to local tastes, and that the colors, sizes, brands, and styles of clothing and other merchandise should be based on the sales patterns in each individual store. How could information systems help management implement this new strategy? What pieces of data should these systems collect to help management make merchandising decisions that support this strategy? Despite aggressive campaigns to attract customers with lower mobile phone prices, T-Mobile has been losing large numbers of its most lucrative two-year contract subscribers. Management wants to know why so many customers are leaving T-Mobile and what can be done to entice them back. Are customers deserting because of poor customer service, uneven network coverage, wireless service charges, or competition from carriers with Apple iPhone service? How can the company use information systems to help find the answer? What management decisions could be made using information from these systems?

The new information system should be able to collect the primary customer data like age, profession, phone number, and email address. Apart from this, the system should be able to capture the data related to clothes purchased and also the feedback they have for the company. The customers should be able to suggest what they like to see in the store and also rate the quality and design of the clothes sold. They need to a system where it can capture which section of the store attracts the maximum number of customers. Based on this the top management can decide what the local customers like and how they can modify their strategy to meet the customer demands.
They need an information system that can keep a track of all the existing customers and also the customers terminating the business with the company. The system should ask the reason to the customers when they opt to leave the 2-year contract. Based on the reasons provided the system should be able to generate a report and tell the top management where the company is going wrong and what they need to stop doing to retain the existing customers. The information system should also suggest new offers to the cusomters when they are opting out online. The system should be able to compare the prices provided by other major competitors in the market and tell the cusotmers why T-Mobile is the best. The system should also be able to collect the data and inform the customers what is the strength of the netwrok in various loactions and provide data real-time. This will help in creating a positive impact on the minds of the people. Based on the user behaviour the top management can make the required changes and take decisions.
