PERT takes care of all the three optimistic,pessimistic and most likely times of individual activities unlike CPM which takes only the deterministic times. So PERT give a better picture which takes care of all the risks even of the worst cases of the project. A project manager using PERT is able to schedule and control the project in a much better way than just using CPM.
