Power: – Power is ability to influence other to do some work.
Power relates with leadership are as follows: –
Expert power: – Power of knowledge can helps leader to lead successfully.
Legitimate power: – It is a power of position and status for leader.
Reward power: – Leader has power to reward someone, when he is impress with his/her work in achieving organizational goal.
Five sources of power are: –
Power of position: – Power of position comes with position in the organization. Such as General manager, manager and group leader.
Power of knowledge: – Power of knowledge comes with experience.
Power of expertise: – Power of expertise comes from developing and communication specialize knowledge.
Power of reword: – Power of reward comes with position and in this power you can reward someone when he/she achieve organizational goal or group goal.
Power of relationship: – power of relationship is the power comes with formal and informal relation personal network inside and outside the organization.
The relation between influence and power is influence come with power influence has broader scope and power come under it.
Influence is the capacity or power or things that are compelling force to produce effects on the action, opinion and behaviour. To be a successful leader, leaders need power to influence other to keep parts moving.
Influence and power cooperates with each other to make best leadership.
The relationships between leaders and staff affect influence and power: –
Punishment: – Leader has power to punish his staff and they order to do that work which staffs does not like to do on that time power and influence affect the relationship between leader and staff.
Coercive power: – Due to coercive power the relationship between leader and staff affect because under this power leader punish his/her staff for not meeting performance expectation and when staff decision has negative affects in the organization.
