Generate a list of reasons why employees join a union. Also, generate a list of why unions may not be beneficial to employees. Compare and contrast the lists. Do labor unions have a future in the American workplace? Why or why not?

Employees join a union because of following reasons-
Job Security- In an un-unionized organization the employer may fire an employee as per his/her convenience but when the employee joins union he can claim to inions and union members will negotiate with the employers.
Improved Wages and salary- The union leaders negotiate with the employer for fare wages and salaries for the employee.
Other benefits in the wages- The union leaders also negotiate with the employer for giving other benefits like medical insurance
Working Condition- The unionized organizations gets food job conditions to work. The employers take care of safety and security of the employee because they have to answer any incidence happen with union member.
Fair and Just Supervision= Unionized employees enjoy fair supervision. This is another reason why they join unions.
To gain the power- Individual employee is helpless. If any discrimination happened then he/she feels powerless. This is not the case of un-unionized employees.
Here are the list why union membership may not be beneficial for the employees.
The employee loss the freedom to negotiate with the employer about his salary, wages and offering, On behalf of that the union does so. The negotiation may be negative for an individual employee as per his capabilities.
There is discrimination in the workplace because of the unions. The favorite candidate may get the promotion and eligible may not get that.
Sometimes workers get against the worker because of the union.
Workers get against the employer as well. The employer loses the control over the unionized employees that affect the development of the individual in his/her career.
Labor unions do not have future at the workplace. The reason is that global competiveness is increasing. This is forcing the companies to reduce their cost and increase the productivity and effectiveness of the organization. And both of it is not possible because of unions. Unions ask for increased salary and sometimes stop the working because of protest, strike etc. They ask for higher wages for low work. This will make the whole economy laggard. There are countries which are offering competitive prices for same products hence the American companies are forced to lower their production costs.
Government has also made laws to prevent unions in the organizations. Now it is not mandatory for any employee to join any union. So I do not see any future of unions in America.
