Assignment 1: Migrating to the Cloud
In this assignment, you will examine the requirements for migration of an application to the cloud.
Apply your knowledge of virtualization and factors that can be considered in a migration when discussing the scenario described below.
Scenario:
You work for a data-processing company, located in the eastern part of the United States. Customers are also based in your geographical area. All hardware and software application’s usage is on-site. The company has recently expanded to include parts of the Western United States. This recent expansion has doubled the number of customers who are using the application. In addition, because these new customers work in a different time zone, support calls are increasing exponentially. The increase in support calls has exhausted the budget of support staff and has pushed the company’s in-house hardware to its limits.
The management is considering moving the application from in-house to the cloud. You are tasked with presenting to the management the requirements for migration and explanations of these requirements.
Tasks:
What are the requirements to migrate an application to the cloud?
Provide five or more items to consider and the reasons why these items need to be considered.

Write in a clear, concise, and organized manner; demonstrate ethical scholarship in accurate representation and attribution of sources; and use accurate spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
