1- A mechanistic structure has high specialization, departmentalization and a rigid chain of command. It is highly formal and highly centeralized. On the other hand an organic structure is more flexible with lower formalization and decenteralization which results in an open environement that allows free flow of information in cross functional teams.
2- Structure is the way an organization has been planned to obtain a defined strategy which is the goal of the entire business. Both are interwoven to create a clear future plan of the organization. A structure is meant to support the strategy and in case of a change in strategy, the structure needs to be modified too. Else there are chances of the organization relapsing into the old strategy or failure of the new strategy.
3- A structure comprises of people, technology, positions, culture, diversity, etc that make an organization.
