Introduction Arts are physical expression, which represents internal creativity in a person. An art has a great influence in culture as such every race or tribe has her own art designs. Literature is the major constituent of arts, which includes short stories, poetry, novels, and performing arts. These forms of art have a very big influence in our society. They bring people together building cohesion and integration among different tribes. They have been a source of employment. Story telling started many years ago and up to now is still active within our society. Writing of novels is an activity dated as early as the ancient times and has never lost its place in the society. Story telling in the early days was a tool for giving advice to the youth. On the other hand, it helped the youth to trace their origin. There are also other forms of art such as media, painting, drawing, and ceramics.
Today’s world is shaped by beauty, entertainment, and technology. Technology is greatly affecting the artwork. People spend a lot of time watching movies from the internet therefore, allocating no time to go to theatres, read novels, or watch plays. It is high time for the people in the arts industry to move first with the technology to maintain the market. Media has a big responsibility in the development of the art industry through the advertisement of the artwork. The much the artwork will sell depends on how the media advertises their work. Nevertheless, fashion plays a crucial role in the development of the art works. A person feels entertained if the work portrays a fashion designs that encourages him/her. It is always advisable to understand the market to give people what suits them, that is, in line with their culture and social life.
However, the biggest problem affecting the art industry is lack of good strategies in handling the industry, leadership and coaching creativity among the youth. This is evident because up to date people still rely on music, film, novels produced so many years ago. People believe earlier work was the best compared to what is being produced lately, mostly brought about by poor management in the art industry. Lately we have seen music and films produced banned from use in some parts of the world because they conflict the culture of the society, but with good management, such issues would not arise. This work seeks to review the challenges of technology to the artwork. There are several impacts of technology to the management of arts, some of which may be negative, while others are positive. This work analyzes some of these technology issues affecting arts and their remedy.
Technology
Technology is the driving belt of the artwork. Artists rely entirely on technology through advertisement of their work. Besides, much of their work reaches their customers through the internet and other social media platforms (Kerzner 37). These technologies on the other hand interfere with the artwork, in that piracy has recently been on the rise. Technology has also discouraged some artwork like reading novels since most people can access technology hence prefer watching movies compared to reading. Technology influences arts in indirect ways as it influence other activities, which subsequently affects arts. Some of these are culture, creativity, media, and fashion.

Arts and Culture
Culture plays a crucial role in artwork. Different cultures have helped a lot in the development of the art industry. Production of music, films, and even stories are a true reflection of a certain culture in our societies. Culture is the backbone of the art industry because a different culture leads to production of a variety of artwork. In any artwork project such as a film or music industry, planning is a crucial stage in the development of such projects. Fake work arises due to poor planning of the activities (Kerzner 37). Planning involves; choosing the technology to use in the art works, estimating the resources required, duration each individual tasks requires and establishing how individual tasks interacts with each other (Kerzner 37). Technology has a very big influence on the people’s culture, which subsequently influence arts.
Creativity
Artwork, for example music, films, poetry, and drawing requires a lot of creativity. The staff in the industry needs a lot of innovation to produce something new to the customers. This is one of the set back in the lately produced music, films and novels (Nissley 56). Before films based their stories on the real issues in the society and were entertaining to watch. Emphasizing coaching of arts in schools is an issue, which greatly affects the quality of artwork produced. Technology influences the creativity of people in that somebody’s mind creates what has already seen.
Media and Fashion
Media plays central role in the market of the artwork. Work well advertised translates to high sales and hence good development of the industry (Nissley 56). Artists have been complaining of biasness in the way the industry managed. There is a lot of piracy leading to high loses but nothing is being done to curb that problem. Management of the industry does not take the responsibility of marketing the artists. This has greatly discouraged some of the upcoming artists from joining the industry and even others withdrawing to other fields.
Fashion plays a very big role in marketing the artists. However, fashion designs have affected the industry, in that if is socially unacceptable then such work is banned in such a society. Before artwork such as films and music, the artists used choose a fashion that is true reflection of the society under context. Nowadays artists do not mind about the cultural values in the society but they just copy what is in other parts of the country without taking in to consideration the differences in culture. Technology has led to occurrence of different fashions in the world since some of these fashion designs are shared through the internet and social media.
Leadership and Management
Management is an administrative level of any project. The best way to manage arts is managing technology. Otherwise artists continue suffering while others benefiting. Technology management strategies must be devices to curb the interference of arts by technology. There are three levels of art management, that is, top, middle, and low-level. Management of appears in form of a pyramid. The base of the pyramid is the low-level management and the apex is the top-level management (Evard & François 3). Management at top level consists mostly of board of directors, managing director and chief executive. The main function of this level is controlling and monitoring of the execution of the set goals and policies. Much of their work is coordinating of all the functions. They have very little work on the ground, but have other responsibilities such as providing guidance and direction of the project. Top managers are answerable to the stakeholders for the performance of the artwork and they hold a responsibility to the outside world in the case the project impose an impact to the outside world (Chong 43). Further they are responsible for controlling and coordination all the other departments and they give direction for the preparation of the budget.
Middle level management comprises of branch and departmental managers. They are answerable to the top managers and report to them on the performance of in their departments. Apart from reporting to the top management, they perform the following responsibilities; they are responsible for the execution of the plans and policies of the project. They prepare and send reports to the top-level managers. They are responsible for evaluation of the performance of the low-level managers and workers.
Low-level management consists of inspectors and supervisors. They are in touch with the people performing the actual construction activity. Their main duty is to monitor and supervise the actual project implementation. They are also responsible for assigning jobs to other workers and ensure that every individual handles what is best suited. They also provide guidance to other workers on the daily activities therefore; they are the closest consultant in case of a problem (Nissley 56). It is also their responsibility to motivate other junior workers hence ensuring quality and quantity work according specifications. Finally, they communicate workers’ grievances to the top management level and train workers on the activities of the industry. The performance of any project depends largely on the coordination of these three levels of management. Management of arts must focus on taking management of technology as project. This is the only way to handle problems in arts.
Failure in art projects is serious problem witnessed lately and is the duty of management to eliminate it. Management of art industry has failed greatly leading to a lot of suffering to the stakeholders. Musicians have watched their songs banned from use in different part of the world. Artists have also watched their films declared unfit for sale in the society because they do not meet the required standard in the society.
Issues that Cause Project Failure
There are several issues that cause project failure some of which are discussed below.
‘Managing work from 30,000 feet’
This is a situation where the top- level managers spend more time in offices and very little on the ground. They look at ‘work from 30,000 feet high’; they do not come down to the people who do not fly that high (Evard & François 22). This is the biggest cause of concern in the management circle. Managers must listen to workers ideas towards a project instead of relying more on paper work and information given to them in their offices. They need to know what workers are experiencing in the course of the work so that they can establish a favorable working environment for better performance.
Differentiating Micromanagement and Management
Micromanagers tend to take up every task in the course of the project. When this happens, workers feel dictated such that they have no responsibility and are not part of the project and therefore they assume that they are only working for the managers. This makes the workers loose loyalty, trust, and even respect because they feel like slaves to the management team.
Failure to Understand Strategy
Managers sometimes fail to understand the strategies lay to achieve the set goals. This greatly affects the performance of his team since the manager will lead the workers in a wrong direction. It also diverts the attention of the team and they may end up being completely off the target. Failure of the managers to understand the strategy of the project leads them to divert their attention from the route to achieve the desired goals.
Failure to Clarify and Translate Strategies during Implementation
Managers have to clarify and translate the strategies into tasks so that the workers can understand what needs done, when and how to do it (Chong 43). This ensures smooth running of the activities. Simple and understandable instructions that require little interpretation are required to avoid confusion of ideas.
Lack of Team Work
When managers believe they can align workers to their duties and encourage individual achievement, project failure may arise. This is a mess because the workers need to work as team. Managers should only explain the strategies and leave workers to align themselves to the tasks.
