Why would it be important for the young entrepreneurs to track how many transactions are initial or stand-alone transactions and how many of them are repeat customers? How would that information affect their CRM strategy? How could they use that information to increase referrals?

Not just for entreprenuers, this is true for all customer driven business. Standalone transaction show, how many independent customers visited your website through organic research, repeat customers show that how satisfied your customer are with your service.
In CRM strategy this will help me gain more vendors as well as customers by displaying the data as to how people are satisfied with my service. This creates a good platform on which I can set my advertisement or marketing stints to access new market, target new customer or develop trust in the existing customer.
As discussed earlier, this data can be used for marketing campaign diplaying how a customer prefers to shop from me onece they have done that. Also organic search is induced by two phenomena – direct search and referrals or word of mouth. I can utilize this data as per my convenience to attract more customers.
