2. What is a high-touch product? Explain the difference between high-tech product positioning and high-touch product positioning. Can some products be positioned using both strategies? Explain.

Answer :
High Touch Products : These products are defined as the products which delivers higher margin for the seller/producer but the volumes of such products are low. Thus the products which are higher in margin but lower in volumes are known as the high touch products. Special equipments or special purposes machine or special quality gauges falls under these categories of high touch products.
High Tech Product Positioning: High tech product are the products which are made with the use of high/latest technology. Thus such products are latest technology products and attract the people’s attractions. Positioning of such product in the market, pulls the attraction of people / consumers speedily because consumers are technology savy and they have high attraction towards new technology.
High Touch Product Positioning: High touch product positioning is defined as the placing of the high touch product in the market. Low consumer will be attracted towards such products, as these products are not good attractor in the market. These products are good for the saller or producer. These are mainly special task related products.
The difference between these two is the high touch products positioning are carried out in certain special region of special needs or tasks. Whereas the high tech product positioning can be placed in any market as it is high attractor in the market.
Yes some products can be placed using both strategies, because in some market the high the product can be like high touch product, as the seller can sale such product at higher margin in some markets.
