i work with student nurse international ones so would like to write up from that angle but happy for any of your ideas this one is a reflective piece on work place assessment.

This assessment activity is based on participants’ experience of assessing clinical learner performance in the workplace. Participants should identify an occasion where they have performed a student workplace-based assessment, or arrange an opportunity to perform or observe such an assessment (ideally both). This may be in either a formative or summative context. Through a reflective piece of writing (1500 words), participants will need to demonstrate their understanding of the key issues involved in designing and performing quality assessment of clinical competence in workplace contexts, incorporating their experience of performing and/or observing such assessments.

ok so I work with international students so i want this assessment as my example you can play around with it to expand a bit. I think the language barrier is good.
I was assessing personal care with an Asian student. after she did ashower and sat patient down in lounge this is where the trouble started.
She was instructed to place a rug over the patients legs.
She stood there confused with no idea what to do.
She thought rug meant a rug off the floor and thought how am I going to cut the carpet up!!!!

The thing to reflect on is how WE communicate, not them understanding our language.
Australia uses so much slang and our words have many meanings.

A rug is simple but what if that was something that could kill someone… like a medication ( use this as and example of what could go wronng and I aslo explained this to student

That student was considered stupid and should fail. by organisation
When I explained the language interpretation they felt terrible because they judged her yet it was their fault as they didnt look at communcation issues and it also taught me so this can also be included in the reflection,

I certainly learned lessons also. I introduced language into my orientation program.nad explained in assessment that we would move on butif she didnt understand anything no matter how small sh e need to ask, on refelction i learnt that commnication is very important and must be understoood
