75-100 Discussion
Each week, you will be asked to respond to the prompt or prompts in the discussion forum. Your initial post should be 75-150 words in length, and is due on Sunday. By Tuesday, you should respond to two additional posts from your peers.
By now you should have a good idea of what algebra is, and what it means to solve for a variable. I’m sure you are all wondering, “So what? What will I need this for beyond this class?”
Research the type of math used in your field of study, and share with us your findings. If possible, provide a worked-out example of the math. Is what you are doing algebra? If not, can you modify it so that it involves variables (is algebra)? If you are having trouble, try asking the instructors for the courses in your major! If you don’t know any, your advisor should be able to give you some names.
When reviewing the responses of your classmates, consider their field. Are there uses for math that they have not thought of? Can you help them take their example and turn it into algebra?
