Log Analysis project – in this project you will need to select a well that has publically available logs (the more the better) and provide an analysis of those logs. Logs are available digitally through State websites. Start finding your logs soon, that may be the hardest part of this project. Once you have your logs please post the well name and API number in the Log Analysis thread. One well per person. You are welcome to work with other students, but you need to work on your own well.
This does not need to be lengthy, it needs to be well-thought and explained.
Project grading structure
There will be 80 total points available for this assignment
30 points will be earned based on the description of the well, field, and other relevant information
30 points will be earned from the analysis of the logs including but not limited to the sections of the logs provided and used in descriptions, the clarity and validity of any determinations or decisions you would make based on the logs, the completeness of the analysis and the number of logs used (so pick a well with a few available logs)
The readability, format, and completeness of the analysis will be worth 20 points. Please take into account any log images, graphics, explanations of reasoning, and information gathered outside of class in this. Originality is also key. Please don’t copy and paste content from other authors.
An additional 10 points may be earned for exceptional submissions in any of the areas listed above or those not listed. Originality and readability are key.
