The hypothesis is that Luther’s behavior of walking outside the nursing home is caused by a lack of attention from the nursing staff, and that when he walks out, attention is given to him as he is walked back in and engaged in conversation over coffee and cookies. The hypothesis was reached upon the realization that Luther almost always walked out of the door at times when the nursing home was the busiest and the staff was engaged in other activities. The functional analysis method applied for this case will be the social positive reinforcement method
