Fashion and ethics
The current global crisis is influencing the way people live, and consequently, we shall have to look at fashion in a new dimension. For centuries, fashion has been global, and everyone knew that a new trend in one part of the world has to be accepted by another country far from it. However, considering the changes that have reduced intercultural interaction, it makes sense that fashion should conform to the local standard of particular people (Tiziana, 2020). It is going to be more appropriate that as each community seeks solutions to the current crisis, new trends have to emerge that contribute and relate to specific localities.
For fashion to make an impact, some values have to be considered at the different stages of design, sourcing, production, and retail. Sustainability is one of the critical standards. What people cannot afford and maintain is not worth investing. Therefore while designing a product, quality, and ability to nourish, the item must be considered. Besides sustainability, approved moral principles of a community should be considered (Emanuele, 2020). At this time, when there is high unemployment, people need value for their money. Since money is a limiting factor, fashion designers and retailers have to produce and supply what people of a particular culture will consider appropriate. It is believed that going forward to fashion is going to transform and respect different cultures and their ethics.
Apart from value for money and ethics, which should be considered when coming up with fashion, a person’s income and their susceptibility to interpersonal influence also impact the reality and responsibility to life and new trends. When a population is in short supply of cash, they are most likely to change their purchasing options. Most importantly, they will consider buying essential products. This state of affairs suggests that under such prevailing circumstances, choices are more aligned to what is needed than what is fashionable. Another condition, as stated above, is susceptibility to interpersonal influence. Typically, what other people say about a particular thing has an impact on a buyer. For this to be effective human interaction has to be at its peak, making decision making more of a public affair than personal judgment. The current circumstance has reduced cash flow besides limiting movement. As a result of this, decisions are more personal, and the use of money is limited to essentials.

To this end, the incorporation of an ethical perspective, in necessary. Fashion should flow in line with the accepted behavior and needs of people at any given time. By considering ethics, fashion shall thrive in this financial crisis as well as other prevailing challenges in the future. As we have discussed above, travel restrictions and reduced interpersonal interaction have a high impact on fashion as it significantly depends on globalization. Ethics and fashion are strongly tied, and the industry should move with speed to make changes that will encourage cultural diversity.
