This is an admissions essay for a psychiatric nurse practitioner program. I want to show how having worked in related settings yet varied settings, I will bring a lot to the profession. I worked with developmentally disabled children and adults while a school psychologist. As a nurse, I worked as a psychiatric nurse (which brought in my psychology background), a pediatric nurse in a regular hospital and now in a school with students who have a variety of medical and psychiatric diagnoses – a position which brought my entire background together and really solidifed my desire to pursure this path of psychiatric nurse practitioner.
