I work in a retail company and its mission is to deliver the value to the customers in vision is to establish stores in all tier 2 and tier 3 cities.
There are 3 departments in a retail store. Apparels, General merchandise and FMCG.
The company offers product on huge discount at it follows spoke and hub model of supply. It has 12 regional distribution centres in country from where it sends the stock to the 250 retail stores. Centralized purchase facilitates the company increasing the margins hence the company provides product cheaper than the market. The company also runs bill buster which means if your purchase value more than a certain amount then the company gives an article free. The free article may be sound placer, sugar, rice etc.
By this way the company gives value to the customer which is its mission. Of we talk about the vision then the company is opening new stores rapidly. It new opening store teem keeps on searching new property to operate the business.
I think that mission statement should be reviewed when the product is going obsolete. For an example accompany selling cigarettes and new law came to ban cigarettes. If the company mission is related to cigarette then it should review it.
When there is an alternative product and service is there in the market and it is removing your product and service then the mission should be reviewed.
When the company has been acquired by another company and they want to run it with their plan the mission should be reviewed.
In the above condition it should be changed as well.
