Why or why not? Why is it important that the federal government be given the power to regulate commerce amongst the states?

Answer: (1) Yes I feel that compelling business and individuals involved in a lawsuit over a contract to submit to mediation is a good idea. It is a good idea because a neutral party oversees the process and mediation is a non-binding process. It is easy, cost effective, and confidential and provides better control and flexibility. As it is non-binding therefore if one disagrees with its outcomes then he may take the other course of actions available. It also preserves relationships and hence if the dispute over the contract gets solved, then business can be resumed as it was before the dispute.
(2) Federal government is above all the state governments and therefore has an authority to look into the affairs of the state governments. Therefore the federal government can look into the disputes which may arise due to trade between the states. Besides this the federal government has a responsibility to see that there is co-ordination between the states and disputes between them over any issue are resolved. Also Article 1 section 8 provides the regulatory power to the federation for regulating the trade between states.
