Leadership Essay: Qualities, Essay Samples and Writing Steps

Leadership Essay: Qualities, Essay Samples and Writing Steps

Hierarchy is key in ensuring normal functioning of our increasingly complex society. Here in the US, we have an enormous variety of industries, professional branches, specializations, as well as a great diversity of other domains of human activity or interests. So, competence here is valued and opinion influencers or experimental pioneers have an important role to play. In fact, leadership evolves as a necessity virtually in any realm of human activity/ thinking, especially where more people are involved.

Thus, it isn’t hard understanding why even in academic institutions throughout the US and worldwide, students are given leadership essay assignments. Most students will take on leadership roles with various degrees of responsibility and impact in their lives, hence, becoming familiar with typical challenges, solutions, or skills required is essential.

Leadership Essay

Definition and Importance

One could define leadership paper or essay as a written work that helps identify and focus on many problems or challenges faced by leaders like efficiency, overcoming skepticism or distrust from subordinates, ensuring personal evolution of subordinates, inspiring motivation. In addition, it concerns potential solutions or strategies for addressing these issues, on vital qualities required by leaders, on how to develop certain skills. It also may be considered the same as writing a profile essay.

In fact, understanding what is leadership essay is simpler than understanding what leadership is because much knowledge related to the latter comes from directly experiencing a leadership role. Nevertheless, importance of leadership essay assignments cannot be undermined as they help create a future leader’s mindset, help understand underlying values, and prepare him/her for real-life challenges by arming with valuable knowledge condensed from more experienced and knowledgeable actors.

Steps Involved in Writing Such Essays

Writing a leadership essay reminds of writing other essay types with some peculiarities. Here are some basic steps involved:

  1. Think about potential topics for your essay. If you already have some positive (or negative) leadership experience, it could be beneficial to reflect on it, choose a topic derived from challenges you faced or successes you achieved. Another strategy could be analyzing, dissecting leadership cases borrowed from other people.
  2. Research this topic or reflect on it thoroughly, understand whether you truly want to delve deeper, whether you’ll deliver an inspiring, original story, or whether enough high-quality information is available. If you are confident about your topic, start gathering evidence.
  3. Create thesis statement that would comprehensively describe/ summarize your paper’s essence, an argument, a position, idea, message, information piece.
  4. Complete an outline – plan in detail your content – this will ensure that the entire paper is structured logically, that all information pieces go to an appropriate section or paragraph, but also that you keep your word count for each section in check as you write.
  5. Write the first draft. Let ideas or arguments flow and develop while leaving editing for latter. Include solid evidence supporting your arguments, mention sources. Make sure you have a clearly delimited introduction, main body, and conclusion besides other required sections.
  6. Edit your essay, revise, proofread, repeat. You might decide having someone else read essay to highlight any mistakes.

10 Qualities of a Good Leader

Essays about leadership focus heavily on highlighting, exploring, analyzing important personal qualities possessed by leaders. Among these qualities are:

  1. Self-confidence – is highly cherished in the US society. It allows implementing and defending visions even when facing major obstacles or serious failures.
  2. Competence. Obviously, self-confidence is only valuable when coupled with competence. Many leaders, however, might have heard definition of the Dunning-Kruger effect – confidence that one’s own cognitive ability or competence is greater than it really is. This’s a great risk dealing with illusion of knowledge, which is even more dangerous than its absence altogether.
  3. Empathy. Nowadays, more than ever, importance of emotional intelligence is acknowledged in western societies – stereotype of productive but nervous, uncompromising, cold-hearted boss, as portrayed in Hollywood movies from earlier decades, is largely outdated. By contrast, being able to show understanding or empathy to an employee, subordinate facing difficult situation may earn their loyalty, devotion, trust, appreciation – things that are particularly important in the long term.
  4. Charisma & charm – like it or not, some people are influenced not only by message or quality of your propositions but also by your charm – this is not limited to looks, but includes more aspects, like speech manner, gestures, mimics, friendliness, reaction to an opponent’s objection, emotional side, even vulnerabilities might play in leader’s favor.
  5. Motivation – importance of motivation can never be overstated. It’s driving force everywhere. Motivation can allow one to go through hell and achieve impossible.
  6. Visionary – true visionaries are rare but ability to anticipate hardships, expected event development, or future problems distinguishes effective leader from an average one.
  7. Justice & impartiality – if we are talking about leaders that overview activity of their subordinates, then the latter must see leaders that fairly reward good behavior while punishing bad behavior. This gives clear message with regard to expectations and prevents chaos in an organization or group.
  8. Dedication – seeing that leader is ready to sacrifice effort, time, money, and other things to see visions implemented or goals achieved is one of the most moving things from subordinate’s or follower’s perspective.
  9. Responsibility – promises must be kept, problems must be faced rather than avoided indefinitely, true leader should be involved, present during the darkest hours, they should be fully aware of consequences of their actions and face them.
  10. Negotiate & convince. Circumstances are not always favorable, opportunities are not always ideal, people are often doubtful even talented ones – bringing all elements, people, or circumstances to work together requires persuading power or ability to negotiate and compromise.

These are some important qualities every leader should have and you may use them as topic ideas. SplendidWritings has a great variety of topics for any paper, even social media essay.

Leadership Essay Example

Confucius was an influential figure of his time and one the most powerful thought leaders in human history. The fact that he became China’s greatest teacher for ages in just five years of professing this activity speaks for itself. He was a devoted preacher of morality, of correctness, sincerity, justice in social and family interactions.

Philosopher was dedicated, receptive, adaptive to his students’ needs, approaching each of them individually, qualities that describe both good teacher and emphatic leader focused on personal growth of this students and on deep personal ties with them – kind of leadership that elicits not only respect/ reverence but also attachment on a human level.

It is probably the suffering he endured as a young person that shaped his humanitarian worldview. He wanted to empower ordinary individuals through education and social reform in order for them to become masters of their own lives, as well as to identify with and take charge of society’s fate, demonstrating such leader qualities as responsibility, dedication, readiness for sacrifice.

Confucius has the allure of visionary highly devoted to the idea of making this world better but also of curious scholar thirsty of knowledge and in constant exploration, which are predictors of intelligence/ competence and open-mindedness among others. Being pragmatic thinker, he valued knowledge mostly for its potential to be used in practice to the benefit of society despite the fact that this implementation often proved challenging.

At the same time, he lived in a society that was disintegrating, objectives he was fighting for were often disregarded as utopist. If it were not for his persistence, he could be defeated by life many times over. Even despite multiple hardships, he managed to pass his legacy to the following generations achieving worldwide recognition for millennia.

Even if you are majoring in Dentistry or Cardiology where it is necessary to remain specific, one can always choose topic that deals with ethics, history & diversity among other ideas. Key rule with healthcare research paper is using sources along with keeping to research structure format.

Research paper layout, as a rule, should include Introduction, 3 Body Paragraphs, Conclusion with Works Cited page, depending on format requirements. Unless already specific by college professor, students are often asked to write personal reflection journal, which is essential for nursing practices just like case study assignments. Same goes with the topic, it may be given or student may be asked to search for suitable topic ideas. When not given definite requirements, it is important to keep writing in academic style without colloquial language and first person if it is not personal reflection. When introducing facts that are not common, remember about proper citation and medical journals not only to support ideas, but to avoid plagiarism risks.

Nursing Research Process Components

Good research always starts with prior research for possible topic ideas, as well as finding academic journals that deal with subject. If your discipline is child care, it’s advisable to research works by other writers to understand challenges and relevant issues before choosing researchable topics in nursing that deal with young patients. This step ensures that student finds related sources and chooses slightly different approach to make assignment original.

Next step is research paper introduction, which has to have an interesting hook that either makes solid statement or provides an arguable argumentation. If writing on hot controversial topic, make a claim that is later developed in suitable thesis statement. Body paragraphs should avoid using too many ideas because such approach only confuses target audience and basically makes conclusion part impossible to complete. As for final paragraph, it has to make a call to action to provide personal recommendations or analysis of information processed. Remember that if you used any statistics or comparison data in nursing research paper topic, it is necessary to include full listing in Appendix or notes, if applicable.

National Honor Society Essay Example for Students

This is only an example and should not be seen as perfect or flawless. What makes NHS paper good is personal input and clear writing structure. What you will read below is one of many NHS essay examples, sum up all good factors that one of our expert writers came up with!

“Reading for Peace”

I feel deeply honored to apply for National Honor Society membership. As I was chosen a candidate that could truly bring positive changes for society, I worked hard to be worthy of  trust that my teachers have placed in me. A determined, caring, sensitive, and motivated person, – I found my passion in reading and sharing knowledge with younger students. I believe that books is a key to a better education in national society. I sincerely believe that as I become a member, I can promote value of books to people of all ages and participate in community work that allows everyone to enjoy wonderful art of reading.

No matter what service and community work I do, I always place my academic achievements first because people always learn by good examples they can follow. I realize that every challenge takes much effort and time, but where goal is set right, there is a way. My dream is to become a role model for people and be the one who brings back the joy of reading books to all who often overlook it and prefer video games instead. Learning to read when I was 5 years old, I know that it has helped me to improve my writing and the language skills. Being in the 6th grade, I participated in the “Spelling Bee” contest and  became a winner. As I saw the other students who failed to win, I spoke to them and discussed ways how they try to achieve success. It made me think of ways how every student could become motivated and inspired to learn in a fun and an entertaining way.

Another reason why talking to fellow spelling contest participants was important to me was working on my social skills and helping others to feel better. As a smallest child in classroom, I was often mistaken for someone of a younger age and was often bullied because of that. It made me hide behind the books and do my homework for hours on end. It all lasted until the day when I saw a younger girl being bullied. Standing up for her, I understood that one should not suffer alone. It was the day when I got courageous to talk to other students to organize an anti-bullying campaign. I developed a strategy to fight the bullies along with other classmates. It was the first time that our class actually spoke of things that we preferred to hide. Joining the NHS, I want to participate in the anti-bullying campaigns and use the art of reading and knowledge to help the bullied ones feel worthy.

Being chosen as a candidate to join National Honor Society, I understand that it is already a great honor and a proof that what I do is valued and accepted by the national society I live in. The trust of teachers and the fellow students is what inspires me the most and helps always move forward. I feel confident to walk an extra mile daily to be worthy of such high praise and do my best to stand for the strong moral values, being there for others, joy and the safety of every person out there.

How to Write a 1000 Word Essay and Get A+?

How to Write a 1000 Word Essay and Get A+?

One thing that students must do during their academic lives is writing a 1000 words essay. This can look like an intimidating number, and many students are left wondering how long it can take. A simple search on the internet will give questions such as “how long is a 1000 words essay?” or “how many pages are in that kind of paper?”

If you have one of these questions, we have prepared some guidelines that can be used to know an exact number of pages that you will end up with. We will also provide an estimate of how long it will take to write the same length of an essay. Read on for knowing the number of pages will make that kind of paper and how long it takes to create such an essay.

1000 words essay

Writing is the same: 1000 words are always 1000 words, whatever the topic is, whatever your today writing mood. This doesn’t mean that it is always easy, sometimes it is not and sometimes you look as mesmerized by the blank paper…no ideas, no motion, nothing at all. In this case, a stroll in a park or a coffee break with your friends can play down the impasse and give you new energies.

How to write a 1000 word essay: Guidelines for students who want to get A+

  • Choosing the topic. Not always the topic is given, and the opportunity of choosing the subject of your essay can be a big plus: if you are wondering, “What should I write my research paper on?” go for an issue you are well up in or with a lot of available material, both online and in libraries. There are countless possible 1000 words essay topics; a personal point of view is to avoid themes that involve you emotionally, taking otherwise the risk of losing objectivity.
  • Sketch a general skeleton. Some guidelines defining the overall parameters of your essay can be very helpful in developing your text within certain limits, keeping the focus on the topic and preventing the hazard of going off the subject. Many websites offer different and valid sample schemes you can use to create yours.
  • Structuring your essay. A 1000-word essay is commonly made of three main parts: introduction, body, conclusion. The introduction explores the topic broadly, arousing the readers’ interest and inviting them to look into it. The body is the largest part of outline for essay, where subject and ideas are dissected and supported by arguments and factual data. The conclusion sums up the article, highlighting the salient notions and, possibly, offering some new original ideas and points. Within these macro guidelines, many options are possible, depending on the purpose of your issue; a good idea is to google for some 500 words essay examples and get inspired by those matching, by and large, the general skeleton you have prepared.
  • Getting inspired boosts creativity, plagiarizing limits it. Usually, I don’t like to write such definitive sentences, but the importance of an original content in essays requires a strong stand indeed. The choice of creating an all-new content rather than using one already written is of course based on responsibility and on respect for others work, but there are other, less evident, reasons you shouldn’t plagiarize. What if your original ideas would be a really great contribution to a further developing of the topic, inspiring other subjects to open new doors and explore different opportunities related to that theme? The crux is no longer on accountability, but on coming out and becoming aware of your worth and your skills. No small feat!

List of Controversial Argumentative Essay Topics

Argumentative Essay Topics

What are the most controversial topics?

When it comes to controversial topics, these are often caused by conflicting ethical principles (e.g. euthanasia), by going against traditional values (LGBT rights, gender roles), by having to do with societal taboos, with delicate or painful issues/ collective memories, by the existence of polarized groups in society having different beliefs/ stances (e.g. religious groups, atheists, gun ownership supporters), etc.

Here are some topics that are appropriate for hardworking students who want to achieve the best grades:

Family

The family is the fundamental unit of society which has direct links to the individual and influences/ dictates many other higher level social processes/ structures/ hierarchies. Hence, its role for the individual and collective existence of humans is simply monumental. This makes it a topic worth researching and exploring from a sociological, cultural, psychological, etc. perspective.

Moreover, given the current cultural transitions characterizing liberal societies, traditional values on which families were build have known a dramatic shift due to a shift in gender roles, the recognition of LGBT rights. Thus, families nowadays are facing existential questions – many of the aspects we grew accustomed to are simply redefined ( same sex marriages and parents). Here is a short list of argumentative essay topics related to family:

  • Should homesexual partners be allowed to adopt children?
  • It is ok for a parent to physically discipline his child?
  • Should mothers stay at home and look after children, or should they work like their husbands?

Society

student at college

We are all defined by the societies we live in. Whether we are aware of this or not, it slowly carves our personalities as we grow up, mature, age. This influence is exerted through the families we grow in, our friends or romantic partners, our teachers/ professors and academic colleagues, our professional contacts, the churches we attend, and through any other person we interact with on the street, on the phone, online. etc. A fundamental principle according to which society functions is “My liberty ends where your liberty begins”.

While this depicts the general spirit, every individual situation/ social relationship is characterized by peculiar circumstances that all need to be considered in order to reach a mutually satisfying solution (or at least a compromise). Last but not least societies worldwide are undergoing serious changes nowadays, that also need to be addressed. Find below a selection of argumentative essay topics related to society:

Law

To manage all the complexity of interactions happening in society (involving individuals, groups of people, property owners, employers and employees, commercial entities, criminals, foreigners) a clear and transparent set of rules had to be implemented – a fundamental prerequisite of every society starting with the most ancient ones.

Writing legislation, however, is an ongoing process and given the speed with which new technologies appear nowadays and the shifts in mentality we undergo, adopting the laws that help manage all emerging problems is quite a challenge. In fact, adopting a law might solve one problem but create others, so oftentimes, it is a cycle of trial and error.

  • Should Federal bureaucracies be allowed to pass regulations that have the same weight as laws passed by legislative bodies?
  • Would Great Britain be better off if the House of Lords had veto power over the House of Commons?
  • Should judges make their rulings based on the wording of the law, or should they make rulings that benefit society?

  • Should birth-right citizenship be abolished by Congress?
  • Is it a violation of the Fourteenth Amendment for states to deny the franchise to criminals?
  • Is it a violation of the Fourth Amendment for the NSA to collect meta data?
  • Should prosecuting a child as an adult be considered by the Supreme Court to be a violation of the Eighth Amendment?

Ethics

Ethics deals with the challenge of taking right decisions from the standpoint of moral values. Oftentimes, it is involved when discussing conflicting subjects – those in which, at first sight, both conflicting positions seem to have a valid reasoning and seem to be driven by high moral principles.

By delving deeper into these problems, it is often possible to see additional layers, to learn about specific circumstances, typical case scenarios but also to dissect problems and reflect both on their causes and potential solutions. Here are a few argumentative essay topics on some ethically controversial issues:

  • Do you believe that a priest or psychologist ought to be required by law to share the contents of their conversations with parishioners and patients with the police?
  • Is it ethical for a doctor to deny treatment to a patient who can not afford an operation?
  • Is it right for a college to have racial quotas that benefit minorities while denying entrance to academically gifted white and asian students?

  • Should the First Amendment protect speech that might be considered offensive by some?
  • Is it ethical to require sex offenders to have their names listed on registries visible to the public?
  • Is it morally acceptable to offer a white lie to someone when the truth might hurt their feelings?
  • Should prostitution be a legal career?
  • Do you think that drug use should be legalized?
  • Should hunting be considered cruelty to animals?

History

History can be viewed as the collective memory of humankind that typically records big or remarkable events affecting lots of people or signifying important societal, cultural, economic, etc. changes/ transitions. The chief practical motivation for learning history is to never repeat the errors we made as a species in the past but the subject has also great intrinsic value, since it describes our evolution from hunter-gatherers to individuals living in extremely sophisticated societies.

Some major events on this road were the invention of laws, capitalism, money, state institutions, constitution, separation of powers in a state. The Principles of Formatting Academic Papers

Academic papers are normally required to abide by a specific formatting style that is characteristic to the field (APA, MLA, Chicago, Harvard, etc.). This preference for a given formatting style is primarily dictated by the nature of content and the type of in-text citations, bibliography, page header, or footer format that works best with such content.

Thus, MLA uses the author-page number format for in-text citations and lists the first names of the authors in the bibliography section – this makes it better suited for precisely referencing information in humanitarian subjects, characterized by long works written by one or a very small number of authors.

By contrast, APA uses its author-year format and is thus better suited for sciences. Mentioning the year as part of in-text citations makes it easy to visualize the chronology of research cited in the paper. At the same time, APA collapses first names in the bibliography section which is very handy when the number of authors is big which is often the case for scientific publications. Finally, providing page numbers in this case makes less sense given that scientific publications are typically short and often published in online documents without explicit numbering.

To take a shortcut and save lots of time, you could download and use templates for the appropriate formatting styles. The most basic elements required by a given format would be accounted for in these templates: margins, font size, page headers, indentation, first level and second level headings, format of bibliography sources, page numbering, occasionally, footnotes and endnotes, title pages, etc.

How to Prepare Your Essay

There are multiple steps you should take in order to write essay of excellent quality.

  • Research your argumentative essay ideas
  • Brainstorm
  • Outline
  • Structure
  • Writing
  • Proofread
  • Research

There are multiple steps you should take in order to write essay of excellent quality.

  • Research your argumentative essay ideas

Whatever topic you choose, you are going to have to do some reading up on it, because chances are that you don’t know as much about the subject as you think you do.

The best research strategy is to find five reputable sources that support your argumentative essay ideas, and read them each while taking down annotations on the sections you find relevant. For each source you use, write down the title of the book, the name of the author, and the publishing information, as well as the page numbers which you took information from. This will come in handy when you are putting together your bibliography.

  • Brainstorming

In order to organize your thoughts, you should engage in a brainstorming exercise called pre-writing. Get out a piece of paper and a pen and start scribbling down every thought related to your project. Go through this list you’ve created and eliminate any idea you wrote down that you believe won’t help you, and keep those you can use. Eventually you will have a list of words and sentences that you can use to formulate the text of your essay.

  • Outlining

Outlining is when you organize your text before you begin writing. On a blank piece of paper, write your thesis statement down, and underneath it, write small sentences that summarize what you want to say for each paragraph in your main body. As for your conclusion, write a small sentence in plain language that restates your argument, demands a call-to-action, or leaves a warning. When you have a completed argumentative essay outline, you will have a step-by-step guide that you can follow until you are done writing.

  • Writing

Once you begin writing about your argumentative research paper topic or social issues essay topic, follow the structure you wrote down as best as you can, but at the same time, don’t be a slave to it. You are the master of your work, and if you believe that you should try something different in your paper than what you have written in your outline, by all means do it.

Do not do all of your writing on the same day. Work on your project a little bit at a time so that you don’t have to cram to get everything done at the last minute. If you have to write your entire essay in one day, do your best to give yourself breaks so that you don’t burn out.

  • Proofreading

When you are done with your essay, you must not only check it for grammatical errors, but it must also be checked for logical fallacies

To sum up, when writing your argumentative essay, you would typically do the following: identify reliable sources addressing the topic, write down all relevant bibliographic details to identify the sources later; research your question search for evidence supporting your arguments and refuting or supporting your counterarguments, take notes in the process. brainstorm for ideas to be included in the paper; outline the structure of the essay; do the writing; and proofreading.

Structure

Every professor pays attention on the structure of the submitted essay, especially argumentative one. That is why you should master it and be confident while writing texts. Here is a basic argumentative essay structure for you to follow:

  • Introduction

The introduction is where you introduce your topic to the reade. Here you should write a thesis statement, a one to two sentence statement that summarizes the position you will take in your essay. Do not start from the behind, be logical, narrow down your thought and be straightforward. Thesis statement is the most important part of an essay as it shows your position regarding the topic. Demonstrate your attitude towards the topic and support it with the arguments in the body paragraphs.

  • Main body

Here you must present valid evidence to support whatever claim you made in your thesis statement. Place this information in this part of your composition in a manner that seems logical to you, and also make sure you are presenting your supporting facts in a manner that your audience can understand. Start every paragraph with a topic sentence, that supports the thesis. Continue with the evidence you found in outside sources. You can provide a direct quotation or paraphrasing. Remember to cite it properly in order to avoid any plagiarism accusations. Later on, interpret this piece of evidence, show how you understand it and how it relates to the topic you disclose. Continue the paragraph with the concluding sentence, providing a short summary of the paragraph along with a transition to the next passage of the essay.

  • Refutation

After presenting the evidence for your argumentative essay topic and backing up your claims, you must then refute the arguments of your opponent. Use evidence such as statistics and expert opinion that contradicts and disproves the position of your opponent. Do not be afraid that it will worsen your own position regarding chosen topic. In contrast, it’ll help demonstrating your ability to contradict arguments of the opponents and stick to your opinion.

  • Conclusion

Once you have presented your evidence and have refuted the positions of those holding an opposing viewpoint, it is time to write your conclusion. You can do several things with your conclusion. You can restate your argument, which is a very common practice amongst essayists. You might also consider calling on your audience to engage in a specific action or behavior – a call-to-action. Also, you can leave your audience with a warning, telling them that there might be dire consequences if they do not take your arguments seriously.

What are the 5 parts of an argumentative essay?

A standard argumentative essay could consists of 5 parts/ paragraphs: a paragraph containing the thesis (the claim), 2 paragraphs with supporting arguments/ evidence, a paragraph listing potential counterarguments along with their rebuttal, and a paragraph with a persuasive conclusion.

Tips for Choosing Good Argumentative Essay Topics

Which idea should you go for? Theoretically speaking, we can say that the sky is the limit; however, there should be certain guidelines while deciding on your next brilliant idea to write about in your upcoming essay or paper.

  • It Should Be Interesting:

The idea of your next piece of writing should be debatable. This means that you should be able to do the necessary research to find different opinions concerning the idea you have chosen. This topic should be interesting to you, your professor and the audience who will most likely read or listen to your essay. It is difficult to write about a topic that you personally find boring or dull. Since you have an opportunity, you should use it wisely. The more interesting your idea is, the better you will be able to write about it. You should also make sure that you have the knowledge needed to work on your writing. Being able to choose your own idea gives you a good chance to excel.

  • Avoid Using Pure Facts:

An interesting argument essay should be controversial. You shouldn’t depend on pure facts because the purpose of your assignment is expressing an opinion. College and school students might be tempted to rely on facts, but to make a good argument, you should state what you think. Researching to find appropriate argumentative essay ideas will take some time but is totally worth it. You should also do some brainstorming to be able to come up with relevant evidence to include in your task.

  • Your Topic Shouldn’t be Too Wide:

When you look for controversial topics, you might be tempted to choose subjects that are way too broad to discuss. This can be a real problem when you are writing because you will get lost. The more specific your essay or paper is, the better the quality of your writing will be. A very wide topic is going to be confusing for you as well as your audience.

  • You Shouldn’t be Biased:

There are a lot of issues that typically interest you. But while picking one, make sure that you don’t have extremely strong feelings towards it. When you are working on the proposal of your writing, try to choose a subject that is not too sensitive and touches you on a personal level. The purpose of your writing is to provide your audience with a persuasive piece of writing. By picking the right subject and working on your thesis statement, your essay will have relevant evidence that makes it worth reading.

  • Work on your Evidence:

Just because you believe in something doesn’t necessarily mean that it is good enough to be included in your writing. It is crucial to back yourself up with the adequate supportive pieces of evidence to make a valid point of view. You should spend the time to do adequate research to provide enough evidence for your opinion and the opposing one at the same time. This proves that you have worked hard to support your argument by using reliable information.

  • You can Take the Risk:

Topics for argumentative essay should be special and unique. This is your chance to stand and pick something that others might have tried to avoid. Don’t be scared to take the risk if it is properly calculated. Common themes are way too boring and will not deliver the message you mean to send to your audience. But if you are going to choose a unique and controversial topic, you should make sure that you can provide enough information. Include enough data to argue for both sides of the argument.

“Two Ways Of Seeing A river” by Mark Twain Essay

“Two Ways Of Seeing A river” by Mark Twain Essay

In the story of “ Two Ways Of Seeing A river” was a personal and creative essay. It was published in 1883 in Mississippi, by Mark Twain. Mark Twain explains how something so beautiful can turn ugly after seeing it numerous of times. Not only is it ugly because of seeing iy numerous of times it is the way he sees the river from a different perspective and a different knowledge. Mark Twain first sees the river as a beautiful place to relax in, he describes the river to be majestic.

Mark Twain would love to admire the beautiful sunset and steamboat. Mark Twain would first go to the river just to visit for his enjoyment and to relax. Later on Mark Twain starts to actually work on the steamboat and suddenly his view on the river changes because he has more knowledge and experience on the river. Mark Twain notices how dangerous the steam boar actually is and how it can kill his passengers.

Mark Twain views on once what he had on the river which was romance and beauty was now all gone.

Mark Twain helps us by informing us to never see something from only one point of view. Everything has to sides to it. A coin has two sides to it, A story has two sides to it, and the river has two sides to it too. For one the river can be the source of life, may hold beautiful colors, have breath taking scenaries and holds beauty within every inch of it, but on the other hand the river can lead to a life diaseter by being dangerous and possessing the power to kill passengers on the steam boat. Mark Twain tells us to pick up the facts before analuzonf anything so then you can gain some knowledge in what you are analyzing. For example a doctor may not be able to see the beauty in a human being because he got so use to his job he is only use to seeing their illness or disease. Mark Twain states “ you lose and you gain but in gaining all this technical knowledge you may lose the perspective of what is the essence.” Mark Twain means by this is how knowledge can overcome beauty.
