Module 1: Aging Bias

Overview

Current research points to ageism as disparaging the value of older adults and stereotyping them as a burden to society. Ageism has in the recent past, negatively influenced decisions regarding older adult client’s access to screenings and certain diagnostic procedure. Acceptance of ageism by health care providers, society and clients themselves can lead to ineffective assessment and treatment of mental and physical illness.

Nurses are integral to challenging ageism stereotypes and promoting healthy aging. The largest demographics of clients nurses will care for over the next 50 years will be older than 65. With extended life expectancy there is a need for enhanced quality of life. Promotion of successful aging requires healthy aging attitudes.

GIVE ME LIBERTY AN AMERICAN HISTORY BY ERIC FONER BRIEF VOLUME 2 5TH EDITION

HE TEXT BOOK USED IS GIVE ME LIBERTY AN AMERICAN HISTORY BY ERIC FONER BRIEF VOLUME 2 5TH EDITION

Topic: Using at least 4-6 primary source documents (there is a list, just below that you must choose from; you may use more, but you are required to use at least four) and the Foner textbook (for background and factual information), write a 5-6 page paper in which you address the following question:

Chart the experiences of a single group of people (you may choose from WOMEN, AFRICAN AMERICANS, INDIANS, WORKERS/LABOR, or IMMIGRANTS), from 1865 through the 1930s. Your paper should have an argument centered on how life improved or declined (or both – e.g. a mixed bag) for your group.

THE TOPIC I PICKED IS WOMAN IF YOU HAVE MORE INFO ON ANOTHER TOPIC I AM WILLING TO CHANGE JUST CALL ME 631-398-2881

The most important part of this assignment is that you take a position on this question and that you use evidence from the primary source documents to PROVE your position (also called a thesis or main argument). The documents must be the CENTRAL PART OF YOUR PAPER on which you base your argument. The documents are your PRIMARY EVIDENCE and you should organize your paper around the ROBUST use of them.

Do not turn in a summary of the textbook with only passing reference to the documents (papers that do this will receive grades of “D” or below)

Formatting: In constructing your response (which should be labeled) you should plan to write five full pages (double spaced, normal margins, single spaced header, 11 or 12 pt Times New Roman font only). Please use spell and grammar checks and ask someone to read your paper before you turn it in. These aspects of your paper are taken into consideration when I grade. Failure to use proper grammar, punctuation, spelling, and capitalization will result in lower grades.

Citations: You must use a FOOTNOTE each time you use the ideas of (arguments, unusual factual information) or quote directly from the texts. For information about how to create a footnote in a word document, please see the document labeled “Paper Formatting Example” under Week 7 of Contents. Failure to use proper footnote style will result in lower grades. Please also review information about what constitutes PLAGIARISM. If I find you have plagiarized even a single sentence of your paper – you will fail both the paper and the course. In addition, I will report you to the DEAN for additional academic action.

Sources: The only sources you are allowed to consult for this paper are the Foner, Give Me Liberty! textbook and the Foner, Voices of Freedom primary source reader. Outside sources are unnecessary and are not allowed. If you use outside sources (either with credit or without proper credit), I will not grade your paper.

Thesis and Topic Sentences: In your response you must have a clear, specific thesis in the first paragraph. This thesis must be underlined. Please also be sure that your paragraphs have topic sentences (these make mini-arguments that show me what you’ll prove in the paragraph) and that each paragraph uses evidence from the primary source documents you’ve chosen to prove your topic sentences (and, by extension, your thesis).

Student Checklist: To monitor whether you are meeting expectations in terms of formatting, style, and arguments you should download the STUDENT CHECKLIST and fill it out. This is the best way to make sure you’re meeting expectations.

Grading and Rubrics: The rubric I use to grade your papers is available for your to view by clicking on the weekly content folder (it provides an example of a successful paper, the rubrics, the student checklist, etc.). This gives you the opportunity to see what I view as important in the paper and to understand a bit of the grading process I apply to your papers. You do not need to fill out this form or attach it.

Student Paper Example: Another resource you may look at – to give you an idea of how to put together an argument using evidence, proper citations, etc. – is the student paper example. This paper is posted with the permission of the student (all identifying information has been removed from the paper) and shows you the kinds of comments you will likely receive from me. While the topic of this paper is entirely different than your topic, it may be helpful for you to see how other students have worked to construct an argument based on both primary and secondary source evidence.

Understanding a GCU Assignment Worksheet

Assignment Background:

It is important to read through all components of an assignment in the GCU classroom so that you are aware of its requirements and the expectations of your instructor. Look for the following cues:

· What is the objective of the assignment?

· What are the elements of the assignment?

· How will the assignment be graded?

· What are other considerations for completing the assignment well?

The purpose of this worksheet is to guide you in “decoding” any GCU assignment.

Assignment Instructions:

Review the sample syllabus and sample rubric under the questions below. Then, provide answers underneath the following questions:

1. How do the objectives assist a student in completing the assignment?

2. Describe what needs to be done for the assignment found in the sample syllabus?

3. If you were to complete the assignment found in the sample syllabus, how would you set aside time to ensure it is completed on time?

4. Will it be necessary to use the GCU library to complete the assignment found in the sample syllabus?

5. What resources are provided to complete the assignment found in the sample syllabus?

6. How will the instructor determine the student’s grade for the assignment?

7. What is not clear to you about the assignment in the sample syllabus and how would you obtain more information?

8. How can the rubric help a student meet the instructor’s expectation for the assignment?

How the ketogenic / low carb diet impacts dementia and the holistic nursing role focused on promoting healthy nutrition.

This dissertation is a literature review and please do not write an abstract. PLEASE FOLLOW THE “DISSERTATION STRUCTURE” DOCUMENT ATTACHED. And also please follow the other documents attached including the “Assessment details” which summarizes the criteria required.

Attached is also the “Dissertation proposal” and the document “Dissertation start of essay” shows how I was thinking of starting the essay.

Regarding the topic please start by explaining what dementia is and how it affects patients (there is a document attached called “dissertation start of essay” where I started talking what dementia is and its implications on patients/ carers and healthcare). The rationale for discussing keto / low carb diets is due to the fact that there is growing evidence that medication has limited impact on the treatment of dementia and the focus of prevention (in part via diet) has been shown to have an important impact. As this is a nursing BSc dissertation I would like you to link the topic to the nursing (mental health nursing) role because the role of nurses is to be holistic and follow a person centered approach. Therefore, promoting a healthy diet is part of an holistic, person-centered approach. Highlight the fact that mental health nursing is more than just following a medical model focusing on treatment and treating symptoms but it should be about health promotion through diet. Please explore the nursing role in relation to promotion of healthy eating and following nursing values, NICE guidelines, NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council standards).

After explaining what dementia is, explain what the ketogenic diet is in general terms and where it is used and then focus on the ketogenic diet and its effects on people with dementia. Provide evidence of the effectiveness and effects of the ketogenic diet on dementia patients. The biggest part of the dissertation needs to be about the ketogenic diet and it how it impacts dementia and memory, the evidence why it it is effective in treating dementia, or a could be used as prevention.

Please be critical and compare the evidence of the ketogenic diet in comparison to low carb diets, when compared with no changes in diet. Also, include studies where it shows that the ketogenic diet has no impact on dementia and explore why (critically analyse the evidence).

Don’t forget to link it with nursing. Maybe could talk how based on the evidence of the effectiveness of the ketogenic diet, how it affects the nursing role? Should it become a part of dementia treatment?

A big part should be about how the evidence should influence future nursing practice, education and future research. So you could talk that nurses should educate patients on the effects of low carb/ ketogenic eating as a prevention of developing dementia, how nurses should encourage the ketogenic lifestyle research in the future in order to prevent dementia.

Benefits of being in a Compact State for Nurses and Making Nevada into a Compact State

don’t need title page, I need help with this section of my paper- Recommended Solution
To come up with the solution, the Lewin’s Model for change will be deployed. The three stages comprised of unfreezing, moving, and the refreezing phase of change will be utilized, (Cherry & Jacob,2018). In the initial phase, unfreezing will enable us to come up with an answer. The answer will entail allowing multistate licensing – a single permit with the capability of being used in more than one state will be issued to nurses who desire to practice in other states.
I will upload my book pages to references we have to use those 3 stages to come up with soultion. also with provide rubric.

Advancing Nursing Practice

Advancing Nursing Practice

Guidelines for 1500 word reflection

The purpose of this written piece is for you to reflect on the process of learning during the course of this module. As this is a Level 6 module you must demonstrate the ability to reflect and analyse, so go beyond a mere description of your individual and group activity.

The overall aim of the reflection is to critically appraise your role and personal development in relation to the learning opportunities presented in this module to enable you to meet the module Learning Outcomes.

There should be clear evidence in your reflection of how the learning opportunities and your engagement with them influenced your learning and development. It might therefore be helpful to consider the following aspects:

What were the benefits to you and challenges involved in this module?

How do you know you have learnt and developed? – {Some of the benefits of this module is team working skills and learning from each other (please support with literature references) as we worked in team of four members. I  have learnt many physiological aspect of some acute deterioration such as cardiac arrest, choking, sepsis and anxiety disorders which were the topics for the four different groups we had in the class. In my group called sky, tasks were distributed to each member of the group by the team leader and the group agreed that I would be in charge of the physiology aspect. Good feedbacks were received from both the lecturer and the students. }

What did you do to ensure you got the best out of the learning opportunities? – {The lecturer’s and colleagues feedback about the shortfalls and good practice from both the scenario and debriefing were taken into consideration and dealt with accordingly}.

Could you have done anything differently? – {I was taken too much time in my debriefing on physiology of anxiety disorders which was the topic for our group. I should have monitored the time so I could use exactly five minutes for my physiology part.

Some of the challenges of the module is that because some of the assessment are on group bases, one’s inaction is detrimental to the whole group. Two of my group members were not in talking terms with each other and this caused a huge shortfall in our first scenario session. There were many negative feedback especially about the scenario.

How did you manage the challenges?

Was your management of the challenges successful? – {I was able to verbally advice each party individually both on phone and face to face and there were cordiality and  mutual respect in before the second scenario session.

How do you know? – {

What will you take away from this learning experience?

How do you think the learning gained will impact on your future practice?

How will you build upon the learning gained?

You should support your reflection with clear evidence of your contribution to the Discussion Board Activity, during which you discussed your development.

Have you developed further since or because of the discussion?

How do you know?

What did you do to further your development?

You should do this by cutting and pasting relevant aspects of the discussion threads in your write up (these are not included in the word limit). These can be provided as additions within your text or within an Appendix.

Do be aware when including these elements to respect confidentially. This includes your peers as well as patients or placement areas, therefore do not identify other students by name.

If you do not include these discussion threads you will lose a significant number of marks, as evidence of participation in the Discussion Board Activity is assessed as elements in Part 3.

Reflection is a personal experience, but you will need to demonstrate that you have read around the topics you are discussing. Referenced evidence you could include may draw on themes you have encountered in this and other modules. As an example, if you were to discuss your feelings around leadership or team-work as the module progressed, you could make sense of events by linking them to relevant theories of leadership. Accurate citation and referencing is expected as with any other piece of academic work, and you can access UWL library resources (such as Cite Them Right on-line).

Please contact the module team if these guidelines are unclear.
