The Oral Report will take the form of a digital presentation (including slides/poster/videos as appropriate) that will be assessed by your supervisors in a public forum with peers present. This activity will give you the ability to develop your ideas in a public forum and to give and receive constructive critique. In your oral presentation, you will need to explain your research findings in the same way that you would to a knowledgeable person in your discipline. Develop a digital presentation using media (slides/poster/videos) that best support your oral presentation. Practice your talk. Present your talk to an audience of supervisors and peers. Your oral presentation should take 6 minutes. It should include: 1. Title of project, Name, Name of Supervisor. 2. Project introduction: What is the purpose of the project, why is it needed? What knowledge gap does it fill? 3. Prior work – What has been done before? (be brief – just the most relevant work to help provide a context for the project) 4. Project definition: What is the project question, scope of inquiry, approach and method? 5. Your progress so far (investigation/design/experiment/analysis/results/findings as appropriate) (This is a key part – do not skip over it) 6. What next: Your plan for the remainder of the project (give the amount of detail that you feel is warranted).
Summary: Students collate and analyse recent, publicly available economic data that may impact on the conduct of a business. Such data may include unemployment statistics, consumer confidence indicators, interest rate data, etc. Students should discuss their collated data in terms of possible impacts on, and implications for, businesses, (e.g., difficulty in obtaining appropriate staff, costs of borrowing for capital investment, the need to adapt and/or adjust business models, etc.).
