DATA ANALYTICS AND DATA SCIENCE COURSES IN THE MBA CURRICULUM: A CRITICAL ANALYSIS
Organizations are recruiting and sourcing worldwide. Since companies expect to find qualified MBA professionals globally, educational organizations have the responsibility to provide a pool of skilled and capable MBA professionals. MBA professionals have to cope with change and be prepared to revise constantly and update their knowledge and skills because of the dynamic changes in the business environment. MBA professionals in all countries need to update their skills; however, the required skill set may vary depending on the specific needs in each country. A well-designed curriculum should provide the right mix of fundamental knowledge and skills that is appropriate for MBA students as well as their potential employers. Also to developing new MBA professionals, institutions handle ensuring they are globally competitive. The quality and range of acquired skills should be equivalent and comparable on a global basis. Many schools are now offering programs and courses in some of the new fields in the curriculum. This study provides an overview of the new courses and programs in this area. The new courses and degree programs have very diverse names including some of these terms: Big data, analytics, business intelligence, predictive analytics, data mining, text mining, data science, database science, etc.
