One of the largest problems with healthcare information security has always been inappropriate use by authorized users. Data security has been high priority for all organizations due to the possibility of hijacking protected health information (PHI) and other important information. Hijackers develop creative and highly sophisticated ways to hijack data and form a constant threat to all secure databases. Therefore, maintaining data in a tightly secured way behind tight firewalls is crucial for data protection. These firewalls should be constantly changing access codes and data should be saved in multiple versions to ensure its recovery. Data can be also saved in increments to permit redundancy of saved versions and a safeguard for important data. Therefore, health organizations have to develop policies to protect data according to legislative regulations of nursing informatics such as HIPPA and HITECH.
A privacy officer in an organization asks for your help to develop policies that address the following issues
