This week you will conduct research to help you better understand the methods that may be used by HR professionals to establish a wage scale. Some concern has been expressed about the Excel portion of the Case Analysis this week. I am providing the following site for your help in completing the Regression and R calculation tasks within assignment.

STEP ONE
You will conduct research on the jobs that are listed in the assignment. I would recommend the following website to help you ; https://www.bls.gov/bls/blswage.htm
This is the government site that is used in most cases for accurate national labor statistical information. I encourage you to explore this site. It is something to become familiar with. It can help you in your personal career in addition to your professional role. Take special attention of the – Standard Occupational Classification
The 2018 Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) system is used by Federal statistical agencies to classify workers into occupational categories for the purpose of collecting, calculating, or disseminating data. All workers are classified into one of 867 detailed occupations according to their occupational definition.
Another site is salary.com and you can google other sites to assist you as needed. You need to develop a system of rating for each job to develop a rank order for the jobs that can be defended. Identify your method. It is important to support your work and you can develop your own process and method. It is about your effort to develop an approach. No single process or method is expected. Student process may vary.
STEP TWO
After you have established the rank order for the jobs, you then assign a specific pay grade range for the individual jobs. (Entry – Mid – End) You need the range to cover the three levels of experience and accomplishment. You use your research to help determine the actual amounts. I am not looking for specific numbers when I see your salary grade. i would expect students to have a variety of thoughts on the salary range. I am grading your level of engagement in the process of research.
STEP THREE
Use the excel format to report out these results. Jobs listed in rank order with – Entry – Mid – End. You can use the Excel software to simply report the results or use other elements of the software to support your efforts.
NOTE – This is not an assignment to test you on your Excel skills. It is intended to help introduce you to the research aspect of determining compensation ranges. I am grading your research effort and I understand that this is somewhat new to many of the students in our class.
