Functional organizational structure
Where the organization is divided into smaller group based on the different functions, that organization structure is known as functional organizational structure. All the functional departments have their own functional head.
Advantages
This structure involves the knowledge of the experts as there are different experts in different group.
It ensures the less burden as the whole work is distributed or segregated into functions and specialist in that field take care of it.
Expansion in this type of structure is possible.
This has the benefits of specialization.
Disadvantages
This system has the effect of destroying co-ordination in the organization, particularly at lower levels.
Maintaining discipline is a difficult task in this type of structure.
The worker have to obey the instructions of more than 1 boss. This is sometimes not a confortable situation for the workers.
