10 DRUG CARD FROM THE FOLLOWING DRUG GROUPS:
Corticosteroids
NSAIDs
Anesthetics
Antiviral
Antifungal
Opiods
Acetaminophen
Acetyl-salicylic acid
Gabapentin
***RESOURCES MUST FROM FDA APPROVAL*
Directions:
Use 4X6 index cards
On the front of the card:
- Drug name (both generic and Trade)
- Drug classification
- Common generic prefix or suffix if applicable
- Your name on the bottom corner
On the back of the card
- Indications
- Contraindications
- 5-10 adverse effects
- Nursing Implications
- Patient teaching
Use each of the drugs/classes listed on the course schedule at least once. If there are not 10 drugs/classes listed, you can duplicate a drug class.
For example on this week – WEEK 9, drug cards come from the following
Corticosteroids
NSAIDs
Anesthetics
Antiviral
Antifungal
Opiods
Acetaminophen
Acetyl-salicylic acid
Gabapentin
You will need to do one card for each of these and since there are only 9 choices, you can make the 1 other cards from any of the drugs/classes listed.
Example:
Front of card:
doxycycline (Doxy-100)
Tetracycline Antibiotic
Common Generic Ending: cycline
Back of Card: will come from your drug book
Each card is worth 2 points for a total of 80 points by the end of the semester.
