This is a Excel worksheet,
1. The data given in file HW_Rainfall_Data shows the amount of precipitation, measured in inches, per month and per year from 1928 to 2011.
a.- For each month, January to December, determine the following statistics characteristics:
Mean valueStandard Deviation Standard Error98% Confidence Interval
b.- Plot mean rainfall vs. months of the year and predict during which month of the year we can expect the largest precipitation. Use a column graph and include error bars showing the 98% confidence interval. Read section 3.4.5 in your textbook about adding error bars.
c.- Perform a statistical analysis for the month of September. Include in your analysis:
i.-Histogramshowingthefrequencydistributionof amountof rainfall/month during those 84 years. Use intervals (bins) of 2 inch.
ii.- Plot the cumulative distribution function corresponding with the histogram in the same plot, and determine the probability of having a total rainfall above 10 inches that month.
iii.- Create a pie graph showing the relative frequency (%) corresponding with the histogram.
iv.- Plot the probability density function and determine if the data can be well represented using the normal Gauss distribution.
