there are many people and many firms which are promotion social welfare by phylanthropic activities. For example ITC (indian tobacco corporation) which adopted few districts in India and donated more than $100,000 to the education of poor child. With this, they are working for the welfare of the poor by donating funds to them.
The same is projecting on the other way that, we are performing corporate social responsible activities, for better society, we are performing these activities. It is sending the message in the market, to the investors and to the customers that ITC is doing activities for the welfare of society. Hence if we purchase the services and products of ITC, indirectly we contribute something in the process. It gives edge to them in the market, helps to increase the sales, leads to increase their revenues, and profits also.
So, the strategic plan is to expand the market for their product, and by doing this, they are increassing the market share and enjoying both financial profits as well as non-financial (goodwill and brand name) in the market.
