Health insurance plan in United States of America has been changed drastically over the years. There is also penalty if you don’t sign up for the Medicare program when you are age of 65. These pricing policies have been turned from ordinary to premium and these are deducted from the social security of an individual.
Tax
Medical system has been very changed in terms of taxes. In the earlier time only .35% of the tax was applied on to the Medicare system. Later it was increased by .5%. In the current condition 1.45% tax is applied on the system since 1986 as well as the self employed workers are directed to pay 2.9% of their income.
Prescriptive drugs
When the Medical program was introduced it does not have anything covering for the medicines. In December 2003 medicare approved private prescription drug plans were introduced by the president George W Bush. Medicare has been changed in several ways for better reason as it also has new guidelines for the prescription drugs and the preventive services. Seniors are allowed to choose between multiple plans available in their location buy availability and the need. Plans can be switched once a year.
Preventive care
New act which is named as affordable care act which is done by the president Obama in 2010 added multiple preventive care services to Medicare which includes Colonoscopies and mammograms. It also helps in reducing the large coverage gap in the Medicare part d and imposed higher premiums on the higher income beneficiaries or individuals.
Social security coordination
Now that is totally based on the social security system. For the people teaching higher than 65 or at the age of 65 can claim the social security. Social security does not require for signing up for Medicare. They do have collaboration with the medicare services to improve the overall situation of the society by maintaining a better and has a free medical service provision to the seniors of the society.
Some of the changes are good for the patients as they provided an extended support to the medical facility being provided to the individuals. Prescriptive drug and the affordable care act are the most important part and changes in the Medicare system which is beneficial for patients.
Premium pricing and higher pricing rate is bird change for the individuals as they have to pay extra from the social security to get the health care plan.
