The essay must address the Macro Account topic:
The essay must answer using the following 3 elements mentioned below:
1. Theoretical background includes the definition, theories and the relationships that exist between National Account and the other three macro accounts which are : Balance of Payment, Public Finance, and Money and Banking.
2. Critically examine and analyses the selected account situation in Oman using information and statistic available from official resources such as National Center for Statistic and Information and Central Bank of Oman.
3. The overall essay presentation and structure. In term of following academic guideline:
The main purpose of any essay is to discuss, persuade, describe, explain, interpret or analyse a particular topic.
• Essay Structure: An essay has three main parts:
1. An introduction (introductory paragraph)
2. A body (at least one, but usually more paragraphs)
3. A conclusion (concluding paragraph)
• The Introduction: An introductory paragraph has 2 parts: 1. General statement Introduce the general topic of the essay. Capture the reader’s interest. 2. Indicate the pattern of organization.
• Body Paragraphs are used to: Develop your topic. Prove your points. The body paragraph should have: Some sort of pattern (chronological order or comparison/contrast, or a combination of both) A logical division of ideas (division into subtopics and discussion of these subtopics in separate paragraphs)
• The Conclusion: The final paragraph in an essay. It has three purposes: It signals the end of the essay. It reminds the reader of your main points. You can do this in two ways: Summarize your subtopics. It leaves the reader with your final thoughts on the topic.
Please try to avoid:
Changes of tens – some paragraphs in past tense, some in present. Since it is referring to historical events, it should be past tense. Maxing tenses is poor style, and use of the present in such narrative is informal.
• The essay is currently too descriptive, covering too many points and needs to be more focused and critical.
• Structure/ argument- the conclusion introduces a lot of new material that were not in the main body. This is not what a conclusion shot do. It should highlight key points and links from preceding discussion
• This essay has no real introduction (it goes straight into discussion without explaining the purpose and structure of the essay) or conclusion. The introduction and conclusion are extremely important parts of the assignment and each should account for ten percent of the assignment. The content should be very strong with the introduction clearly describing what will be found within the main assignment and the conclusion linking into the main findings.
• Introductory and concluding paragraphs: These paragraphs were often some of the weaker parts of your essays. Make sure that each clearly tells the reader your thesis, what the main points of your argument will be, and in what order you will discuss them. Writing a really solid introduction makes writing the rest of your essay easier: a good introduction gives you the blueprint for the rest of your paper. You should try to make each of these as good as possible as they are the first and last things your audience reads.
Points to consider:
• Referencing seems to use a mix of 2 different style- Harvard and footnote- use one or the other, not both. • A number of sources mentioned appear to be cited in other scholars work, rather than read by the student him/herself. This should be indicated clearly (for example X as cited in Y……)
