Personal Leadership Plan (PLP) Writing Assignment

The objective of this assignment is to culminate what you’ve read in the book, heard during the lectures, learned from the videos, learned from the assignments you completed for this class into a Personal Leadership Plan (PLP). Your PLP should reflect an action plan for leadership as you leave this course.

Keep in mind, this PLP in an action plan for your professional life. Your PLP should be no more than 3 pages. Below you will find a PLP outline. Feel free to make additions to meet your own personal plan needs. It is your leadership plan! Design it so it can work for YOU – everyday!

Outline for Personal Leadership Plan

  1. Vision

Describe how you want your career to unfold. Since your professional and personal lives are interdependent, consider your personal challenges and opportunities that will impact your career vision by identifying your key strengths and areas of improvement.

  1. Values

What is most important to you? What principles do you hold dear? Contemplate the words listed below – feel free to add words that are missing. Then identify your top three. Expand on why these three values are important to you in your professional life.

Goals evolve at several levels: individual (think self-improvement) and interpersonal (think improvement in relationship with others. Develop at least one goal for individual self-improvement and one for interpersonal improvement. Feel free to add any additional goals you want to make part of your PLP. Then describe why each goal is important.

Describe how you are going to reach each goal. What specific actions or changes will you need to do in order to achieve each goal? How will you know you have reached your goals?

  1. Personal Mission Statement for your Professional Life

Create a professional mission statement for your professional life. Include who you are and what you want to focus on in your life and what impact would you like to make.
