THIS IS WHERE I WORK:
I work in the observation area in the Emergency Department, where we hold people for observation for 24-48 hrs, if the patient status changes, either improvement, decline or no change than they are either discharged or admitted into a inpatient unit. Sometimes they are just held there while we monitor their condition, for example stroke symptoms or cardiac symptoms and wait for further diagnostic testing like CT Scans, MRI, Echocardiograms or consults with specialist. Once these task are complete the ER doctor has to either discharge or admit.
