Research Paper Help on Health Care provider and Faith Diversity

Health
Care provider and Faith Diversity
The interview was
done to a young Christian man who was 26 years of age. It took place in a
hospital. The patient was very welcoming after I had introduced myself and
during the period of the interview, he never showed any indications of
aggressiveness. He was responding to answers in a cordial manner and even
though he talked slowly, he was cooperative and relaxed in a good manner. In future,
I would conduct the interview in a more private place to make the respondent
more free and relaxed. I would also carry something to motivate the respondent
and feel that he is loved and cared for.
I encountered some
few challenges while conducting the interviews like poor timing and discomfort
in certain questions asked. I arrived at the hospital some minutes before the
visitors’ hours ended. I hurried my interview, and therefore I never had enough
time to ask all the questions I had for the patient. I also realized some
discomfort from the patient, particularly with direct questions regarding
spirituality. He hesitated before giving the answers. During the interview, I
realized that I did not frame some questions in the right manner to make the
patient free while answering, without making him feel cornered or judged. In
the future when going to for an assessment, I will plan in accordance to time
so that I can get enough time with the patient for assessment. I would also
learn on ways of asking questions without causing discomfort to the respondent.
This would entail asking indirect spiritual questions about spirituality (Galek
et al., 2014).
From the interview
with the patient, we both had an experience that prayers are always answered.
From the question that I asked him if he believed in prayers, the answer he
gave me made us both believe strongly that prayers are always answered. I
believe that God usually answers prayers and meeting a patient who believes so
made my work easier. I came to realize that he had faith in prayers very much,
an attribute that was moving since many people believe in the power of prayers.
The awareness I have that prayers are answered made me give the patient more
strength that he would recover in no time and God would answer his prayers. The
answers that I got from the patient made me see that truly, there are many
believers, and being spiritually strong is the only way to manage and overcome
challenges in life. God is powerful and everything is possible in His presence.
The tool made me make the patient spiritually stronger than he was. It would
have been difficult to encourage the patient if I would not be a believer who
had awareness that prayers are usually answered no matter how long it takes.
The illness
amplified the spiritual concerns of the patient interviewed. During the period
he was sick, he realized that he needed to get closer to God and be spiritually
strong. His spiritual goal is to go to heaven and that is only possible if he
is spiritually strong and serves the Lord. The stress and illness that the
patient had made him realize that he was not spiritually strong and was in need
of change so that he could get into heaven.
