Mr. M. is 55 years of age and seems to be struggling socially, emotionally and psychologically following the recent divorce from his wife of many years. His former spouse initiated the divorce and is unwilling to consider reunification.
Mrs. W. has come to the agency concerned about the safety and well-being of her two preteen daughters who are being bullied at school. She has indicated that she is of Latina background and fluently speaks both Spanish and English.
Selena 16, a biracial high school student who moved to WA from NYC 6 months ago and lives with her mother (age 45, Filipina). She was referred by the school counselor as an alternative to suspension after a fight with three other students and concerns about depression.
Assignment #1: Select one of three client scenarios above and:
Engaging: write the words you would say to demonstrate these elements of an initial session:
• Introduce yourself and your student role
• Seek introductions from client
• Introduce agency, describe initial purpose, and orient client to the process
