Agency Description
This agency advocates for victims of child abuse and neglect. Their main goal is to secure and provide safety for children throughout the city of Philadelphia. Support center for child advocates also provide justice. The well-being in the permanent, nurturing environment for every child is also very important to their cause. to ensure their work is diligent they use an acronym called SOAR process which stands for strengths, opportunities, aspirations, and results.

Geographic Area Served
The geographic area that I will be focusing on is Philadelphia. The total population of children under the age 18 in the city of Philadelphia is 343,837. However, the total population of children under the age of 18 in the state of Pennsylvania is 2,792,155. In the year of 2010 there were 90,000 children in Philadelphia who were a part of low-income working families. In the state as a whole there were 572,000 children who are part of low-income working families. statistics also shows that in the year of 2010 the city of Philadelphia contained the number of 56,000 children who were a part of low-income households were there were no adults working compared to the state of Pennsylvania where they are 180,000 children. another statistic that I found interesting was on children and probably in the year 2010. To elaborate in the city of Philadelphia there were 123,000 children living in poverty compared to the state number which is 522,000. The last statistic I found was on children living with cohabitating Domestic partners. In the city of Philadelphia there were 30,000 children and the state of Pennsylvania there were a total of 211,000 children.

Relevant Issues and Prevalence Rates
As a child advocate our main goal is to focus on the safety of our children. In 2010 there was a total of 4765 children who are a part of child abuse and neglect cases. However, in Pennsylvania there was a total of 24,615 children in all. Children in foster care are also very important to us. In fact, there are 15,346 children that were mentioned in the foster care system in Pennsylvania. While there are 4,738 children in the Foster care system in Philadelphia. As a child advocate it is also my duty together statistic on youth death rates. In 2010 there were 139 difference in the city of Philadelphia out of 774 deaths in the state of Pennsylvania. Another issue that keeps reoccurring is the fact that we have children raising children. To illustrate in the year of 2010 there were 3,013 teen pregnancies out of 11,959 in the state of Pennsylvania. Having health insurance is also an important factor for children’s development and over the years there has been issues with children gaining health insurance. For example, in the year of 2010 there were 21,000 children who were below the age 18 without any health insurance in Philadelphia. Not to mention the 161,000 children in the state of Pennsylvania without any health insurance.

Summary
Being an advocate for children is something I wanted to do for many years. Working with the company like the support center for child advocate would be a great place to start my mission. During my research I discovered that in the state of Pennsylvania there are currently over 2,792,000 children and Out of that there are 343,837 children that lives in the city of Philadelphia. With this agency we can advocate for thousands of children within one city. By expanding the company, it may be possible to advocate or a million more.
