For Informatics Paper – Part 1, you will be introduced to a critical situation you must assess. You must identify the role of informatics in your assessment. You will choose only 1 situation to assess, but will have 3 different options from which to choose. This will require you to research to support your assessment.
Option 1:
Your organization is interested in a telehealth program to close the gap for a rural community that has significant health needs. You have been asked to investigate what it would take to get this program started. In this part of the informatics paper, assess the health needs that can be met through a telehealth program. Choose an informatics theory or model to build your framework, and explain why it is important for this program. Include the need for an informatics nurse and the role of this individual within the program. Support your findings with appropriate research.
Option 2:
Your organization is interested in a simulation education center to enhance interdisciplinary competency skills and fill a need for area nursing education programs. You are on the taskforce to assess the need for this program and discuss what it would take to get this program started. In this part of the informatics paper, support your assessment and discussion with appropriate research. Choose an informatics theory or model to build your framework for this program. Include the need for an informatics nurse and the role of this individual within the program. Support your findings with appropriate research.
Option 3:
Your organization is interested in a new electronic health record (EHR) program after 2 sentinel events have occurred in relation to medication administration errors. You have been asked to spearhead the taskforce for this project. In this part of the informatics paper, choose an informatics theory or model to build your framework, and explain why this is important for the project. Include the need for an informatics nurse and the role of this individual within the program. Support your findings with appropriate research.
Your paper must be 5–8 pages (not including your title and reference pages) and be formatted in current APA style. You must incorporate a minimum of 5 scholarly resources. Sources must not have been published more than 5 years ago.
