In “The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia” we see examples of many different aspects of family. Let’s begin by researching the documentary online (either YouTube clips or a summary). To connect back into some of the concepts we’ve covered thus far, we can also include observations on deviance, socialization and gender roles. After watching the clips, identify how we see the following portrayed: Extended family, matriarchal family, and homogamy. What function does family hold? That is, why is it important?
