Different examples of when one would want a lower or higher alpha level can include a number of examples. One is in health care, such as birth control. If a person was choosing the correct form of birth control to reduce the risk of conceiving a pregnancy, a higher alpha level would be idea. If the Mirena IUD had an alpha level of 0.1 in reducing the risk of pregnancy, this would be a better value of 0.01. This would indicate the Mirena works 10% to preventing pregnancy as opposed to a 1%. This alpha level can be used in different scenarios depending on what is actually being tested.
