Refining the Problem Statement
Now that you have chosen a topic, this Discussion provides the opportunity to share with your classmates your choice of topic and the problem that you have identified.
Note: Please complete the Application Assignment prior to the Discussion question this week.
To prepare:
· Develop a brief summary of your topic to post to the Discussion board, including a justification for your choice.
With these thoughts in mind:
Post by Day 4 a description of the topic you chose for your Capstone Project and the problem you identified. Briefly explain why you selected the topic.
Read a selection of your colleagues’ postings.
Respond by Day 6 to at least one of your colleagues’ postings in one or more of the following ways:

My topic will communicate the importance of online counseling. There are advantages and disadvantages to using online counseling. My project will discuss the importance of using the tool and the problems that are associated with it’s use. I selected this topic because it deals with all forms of counseling and the the fact that there are more advantages than disadvantages and how it can be beneficial to individuals.
I am passionate about helping individuals whether it is online, in person, or face to face. It means a lot to me to reach each individual at his or her needs. These individuals are the ones that struggle with various topics starting from career goals to help with sorting out details of life issues.
Although online counseling is not for everybody, I will offer more options to those individuals that prefer a more face to face environment. General psychology is my field and according to Ricker, (2002), for people who do not have access to affordable mental health care, internet and/or telecommunication counseling may be a viable option, they add. The author also point out that without an office, clothes and physical appearance to potentially distract them, clients being counseled via internet or phone may be inclined to focus better on what the therapist says.
One of the problems that are associated with internet, online or telecommuncation counseling is the problem with technical and computer issues due to storms, hardware failure or software bugs. I will present solutions to the problems.
