What is a dissertation abstract? You are required to submit an abstract for your dissertation.

This will be assessed alongside your dissertation but the abstract/image part forms a very small part of the grade. We intend to use the abstract and image to publicise your dissertation work in digital form – during the degree show in summer 2019. This means that staff, students and the wider public get to see the good work you are doing in Cultural Studies. What is a dissertation abstract? You are required to submit an abstract for your dissertation. This is a 100-200 word abstract summarising your research project. The abstract involves an account of what the dissertation does, how it does it and the sources used. There are no references in the abstract. Instead, it is an overview. The abstract summarises your research by describing the: 1. Purpose of the research 2. Methodology 3. Primary and Secondary sources 4. Conclusion (s) The abstract describes the project by covering: 1. What you did (What the dissertation is about) 2. How you did it (Methodology) 3. What you found out (Results) Read through the final draft of the dissertation and underline the main points. Rank them in order. From this develop your abstract. Write in the active rather than passive voice.
