Watch part or all of the CBC documentary “Ice Bridge” about the Solutrean hypothesis (see links below), which proposes that Native Americans arrived on the east coast from Europe via a maritime route across the Atlantic Ocean, and look at the links to online posts reflecting the concerns of some in the archaeological community. Given the limited scientific evidence in support of this theory, do you agree that it was “extremely irresponsible” to promote it given that if feeds white nationalist agendas? Or do agree with the film makers that they can’t control, or have a responsibility to manage, how these ideas in the film are used? If you were a documentary film maker, how would you have handled this situation differently?”Ice Bridge” link: https://vimeo.com/252813466Reaction in National Post: https://nationalpost.com/news/canada/cbc-under-fir…Reaction in CBC: https://www.cbc.ca/radio/asithappens/as-it-happens-friday-edition-1.4484878/director-defends-documentary-that-claims-europeans-could-have-been-1st-humans-in-north-america-1.4484883Reaction in The Guardian: https://www.theguardian.com/science/2018/feb/21/rejecting-the-solutrean-hypothesis-the-first-peoples-in-the-americas-were-not-from-europe?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
