1. Path Goal Theory is based on defining the leadership style best suited to motivate the employee and working environment fot achieving organisational goal.
Increasing the motivation empowerment and satisfaction of employees is the goal so that they become productive.
The Path Goal is based on the expectanct theory which states that on the basis of the expectation, an individual will act in a certain way and that act will produce an outcome. 3 steps are:
1. Establish the characteristics of the employee and working environment
2. Choose style of leadership
3. The motivational factors are stressed upon which will make the employees productive
2. Advantages
1. The theory is useful when things need to be done is quick time
2. The theory is flexible
3. The theory enriches in a group dicussion thus making it flexible
4. The ideas in the theory can easily be conveyed and can be easily visualized by the followers
Disadvantages
1. The theory has highly dependent on the leader. If he goes wrong, the theory fails
2. The members are assumed to be unknowlegeable. Hence, its undemocractic
