You have been asked to read a short paperback book entitled, Tuesdays with Morrie. This book is about a powerful relationship between a student and teacher that addresses life and death.

The purpose of the paper is to describe how Morrie’s life defied many misconceptions we have about aging and death. The paper should have at least 5 paragraphs will 5+ sentences per paragraph. The first paragraph should be an introduction paragraph. Describe the purpose of the paper and provide an overview of the book. Using good transitional phrases, write three more paragraphs which each cover:

How American culture says people “should die,”

1. Compare how Morrie’s last few months compare to societal expectations, and
2. Describe how the book impacted how you view life and the end stages of life. What might you want to do differently if you had an opportunity to prepare to die on your own terms?
3. This paragraph should cover any other relevant insights you discovered while reading the book

The final paragraph should be a conclusion. Summarize the point of the paper and your three-four main ideas you outlined in paragraphs 1-4 above

This assignment requires you to write a reflection paper. This is not a research paper, but rather, an assignment requiring you to describe your reactions to the supplemental reading (Tuesdays with Morrie). A comprehensive rubric and suggested outline will be provided (paper tab). The paper is typically 4-5 pages, double-spaced.
