Cross-Cultural Analysis Paper

Paper 2 – Cross-Cultural Interview Analysis:

This assignment compliments the self-analysis essay, requiring you to select a person that is of a different cultural background than yourself (someone from outside of class) and interview them to learn about these differences and how they affect communication styles. Upon completion of the interview, a 4-5 page reflection should be written mirroring some of the same topics addressed in your own self-analysis essay such as values, behaviors, and communication patterns with the addition of a section on how this person’s cultural norms compare with your own.

I attached my self analysis essay which is about my french culture, you will have to use it and analyze differences from the French culture to another culture of your choice. You can interview someone that you know or a made up one ..

Lower Second

50-59

Competently addresses objectives, but may contain errors or omissions and critical discussion of issues may be superficial or limited in places.

Some critical discussion, but the argument is not always convincing, and the work is descriptive in places, with over-reliance on the work of others.

A range of relevant sources is used, but the critical evaluation aspect is not fully presented.  There is limited use of sources beyond the standard recommended materials.  Referencing is not always correctly presented.

The answer demonstrates a good understanding of some relevant        theories, concepts and issues, but there are some errors and irrelevant material included.  The structure lacks clarity.
Third

40-49

Addresses most objectives of the assessment task, with some notable omissions.  The structure is unclear in parts, and there is limited analysis.   The work is descriptive with minimal critical discussion and limited theoretical engagement.   A limited range of relevant sources used without appropriate presentation as supporting or conflicting evidence coupled with very limited critical analysis. Referencing has some errors.   Some understanding is demonstrated but is incomplete, and there is evidence of limited research on the topic. Poor structure and presentation, with few and/or poorly presented references.
Fail

<40

Some deviation from the objectives of the assessment task.  May not consistently address the assignment brief.  At the lower end fails to answer the question set or address the learning outcomes.  There is minimal evidence of analysis or evaluation.   Descriptive with no evidence of theoretical engagement, critical discussion or theoretical engagement.  At the lower end displays a minimal level of understanding.   Very limited use and application of relevant sources as supporting evidence.  At the lower end demonstrates a lack of real understanding.  Poor presentation of references.   Whilst some relevant material is present, the level of understanding is poor with limited evidence of wider reading. Poor structure and poor presentation, including referencing. At the lower end there is evidence of a lack of comprehension, resulting in an assignment that is well below the required standard.

Neurologic and Orthopedic Conditions and Plastic/Reconstructive Surgery

Discussion: Neurologic and Orthopedic Conditions and Plastic/Reconstructive Surgery
This week, you study neurologic and orthopedic conditions with plastic surgery considerations. Both neurologic and orthopedic conditions are seen in the trauma areas of the hospital. These conditions encompass cardiovascular, pulmonary, and metabolic aspects of care in the ICU. For this Discussion, focus on adolescent patients, and consider potential diagnoses, treatment, and/or referral options for the patients in the following 3 case studies.

Case Study 1
A 17-year-old male was celebrating his birthday with friends and alcohol. At one point he jumped into the hotel pool three stories below, hitting the side of the pool with his chest. EMS arrived and packaged him with spinal support. He arrives in the ER with breathing difficulty, chest pain, GCS 10, and O2 sat of 94%. You do initial assessment in the first 10 minutes and find that his chest is asymmetric for breathing and contusions are noted all over his chest. His CXR shows multiple rib fractures on both sides and pulmonary contusions. His cervical spine is stable in a collar. His thoracic and lumbar films are negative for fractures. In the next hours, what are your priorities, and what plan would you have for this patient as he moves to the ICU? At what stage of development is he, and how does that affect his care?

Case Study 2
A 13-year-old female restrained passenger of a vehicle was involved in an MVA at 60 mph on the highway. The vehicle experienced a frontal impact. The patient arrived in the ER with closed fractures of the left tibia and fibula with angulation, dislocation of the right ankle, multiple pelvic fractures, and femur fracture on the left side. Her BP is 92/54 with pulse of 130. What is your plan for this patient, and what are the considerations to prevent further morbidity? At what stage of development is she, and how does that impact her care?

Case Study 3
A 19-year-old male private in the U.S. Air Force was driving with friends when they dared him to “surf the car.” He fell off the roof of the car while it was moving at a speed of approximately 40 mph. He landed face first. He is now in the ICU with a closed head injury. His intracranial pressure is elevated, and his pupillary response is slowing. At this time, what medications do you recommend, and what other medical treatments do you recommend? In addition, after the acute situation is controlled and the patient awakens, what medication do you use for his agitation?

To prepare:

Review and select 1 of the 3 provided case studies. Analyze the patient information.
Consider a differential diagnosis for the patient in the case study you selected. Think about the most likely diagnosis for the patient.
Think about a treatment and management plan for the patient. Be sure to consider appropriate dosages for any recommended pharmacologic and/or nonpharmacologic treatments.
Consider strategies for educating patients and families on the treatment and management

Post an explanation of the differential diagnosis for the patient in the case study you selected. Explain which is the most likely diagnosis for the patient and why. Include an explanation of unique characteristics of the disorder you identified as the primary diagnosis. Then, explain a treatment and management plan for the patient, including appropriate dosages for any recommended treatments. Finally, explain strategies for educating patients and families on the treatment and management of neurologic and orthopedic conditions.

Unit 6 Assignment: Project Identification Essay

Unit 6 Assignment: Project Identification Essay

CE300- Observation and Assessment in Early Childhood

Introduction

Why are results from assessments important to inform parents about when dealing with their child? The audience that I will be reaching will be the parents because these specific results are geared towards their children in the classroom. I will be using a PowerPoint to inform the parents of what assessments and observations are and why/how are they used in the classroom to include the results from each. When you give a child the tools to succeed 9 times out of 10, they become successful so why not do the same for their parents. As a parent and educator I want to know everything when it comes to that little one of mine regardless of the fact that I am an educator because I am a parent first and if I am informed of something I will check it out first before making any assumptions.

Project Summary

The purpose for my project is to give the parent a clear understanding of the results received from the assessments completed in the classroom. The only issues that I have run into recently is that the parents are not completely educated on what assessments are and why are they used because when they think of assessments, they think that their child is being bad now you have to sit them down and so forth. I have found that once you inform the parents in the beginning of what these assessments and observations are along with why they are used they have a better understanding. Instead of just talking at the parents like must people do you must talk with the parent so that everyone is on the same page, so the child is not confused as to doing one thing at school and another at home.

Project Impact

I think that this type of project can impact a community because if you think about if how many parent(s) are out there that have no clue as to what an assessment is and why their child(ren) should be observed within the classroom. This project will enlighten parents as to the understanding of assessments and observations along with informing them of all the different results that we receive from assessments and observations. When it comes to the community by educating everyone it allows everyone to be on the same page, so I think that if you do workshops for parents or anyone interested in being educated on certain topics such as mental health, developmentally appropriate toys and/or milestones for children. I enjoy learning new things when it comes to children because there is always something new or changing about policies and regulations for children within the school system or childcare facility.

Alignment with Course Outcomes

The reasoning for me choosing to do the PowerPoint for my project is because I think that it will be easier for a parent to look at colorful slides filled with information compared to a handbook or google site. I believe that it all aligns with the listed outcomes since I will be explaining the results of the assessment and informing them of ways to implement things at home and the assessment is geared toward the child regardless.

Conclusion

My project aligns with my initial question because I am giving the parents the results to their child’s assessment because I want them to be able to understand the purpose behind assessments, how the assessments are implemented into the classroom and the different types so that they can see for themselves why we do this and how it affects their child. All parents want to know why these assessments are done and how it affects their child later in their child’s school life. Once I have completed my project the parents of the target child will have a clear picture as to why we do assessments and how the results help us to guide the way we teach certain things or how we can help them reach developmental milestones they have yet to complete for whatever reason.

While it may seem that the artifact speaks for itself, the individuals who are looking at your portfolio may have little experience with early childhood administration

Rationale: While it may seem that the artifact speaks for itself, the individuals who are looking at your portfolio may have little experience with early childhood administration. Know your audience — they might need further explanation to understand the significance of the portfolio.

The rationale should be written in declarative and direct language. The rationale should indicate what outcome is being addressed through the artifact presented and how the artifact specifically links to the outcome. Use language that clearly reflects the outcome without copying word for word. Outcomes are general, but your artifact is specific. You cannot simply state that the artifact shows you can do something or understand something; you have to explain how the evidence demonstrates you have met the outcome.

You should create a rationale for each piece of evidence you present; however, you may use more than one piece of evidence for an outcome, making sure your rationale aligns.

Building Your Rationale

Section 1: Introduce the artifact or experience:

  • Tell what the artifact is and the name of the artifact.
  • Tell what class you created it for or describe the field experience.

Section 2: Explain/justify how the artifact meets the standard:

  • Explain what the assignment or activity was that had you create the artifact.
  • Tell why this artifact best aligns with the specific program outcome.
  • Explain what you learned by doing the assignment or activity and creating the artifact.

Section 3: Conclusion of what you learned from doing the assignment or activity and creating the artifact:

  • Reflect on how you might implement or utilize this artifact in your future practice.
  • Identify any changes you will make to the artifact based on what you learned from the experience.

Coaching, Communicating, and Managing Conflict

Introduction

A critical aspect of team leadership is the dynamic and symbiotic relationship between leaders and followers. The leader-member exchange theory, referred to as LMX, asserts that leaders develop a connection with each of their subordinates and that the quality of this leader-member relationship influences followers’ actions. Importantly, LMX theory not only seeks to explain the exchange between leaders and their subordinates, it claims to measure issues and attribution bias to arrive at a predictive power. The primary criticism of the LMX theory is that the measurement vantage point is only from that of the follower (LMX-7), which leads you into a discussion of the Kelley’s typology of followership, wherein you will develop an understanding of how followers, like leaders, can be assessed based on behaviors. Armed with this understanding, you will be working on a critical assessment in this unit from a pragmatic position to understand effective critique and communication skills for coaching and conflict management for effective teams. In this unit, you will examine the five steps of communication, examine difference between criticism and coaching, and end with steps for conflict resolution.

Assignment details Part 1

Leader-Member Relationships

Leader-member associations are theoretically interdependent, positing a reciprocal relationship exists between leaders and followers (see LMX theory). Do you believe this is applicable in the real world, or is this just an academic description? Why, or why not? How does this impact the purpose, collaboration, operation, and leadership of teams?

Part 2

Addressing Team Disfunction

What are some indicators of team dysfunction? How can these be addressed? What is the key to helping team members put the team ahead of their own self-interests?
