Rough Draft

Sadly, too often, the stigma around mental health prevents people who need help from seeking it. (Michelle Obama). Mental health is one common disease that million of people suffer with in many ways. Some people think talking to themselves is a sign of mental health it all depends on the person. Diagnose can only be determined by a mental health professional who specialized in mental disorder and the it does not matter which age of life a person is in. One thing to remember is that mental health can affect your mind and body at any time. Mental health effect people of different age because it has affected people in different ways, many people do not know how to treat mental health, and you must be seen by a doctor for diagnosis and treatment.

Many people are not aware on how to treat people who suffer from mental health. Medicine, psychotherapy. group therapy. day treatment or partial hospital treatment. specific therapies, such as cognitive-behavior therapy and behavior modification are the ways a person can be treated to manage the disease. Sometimes it’s difficult to find out which mental illness may be causing your symptoms. Time and effort is what a person need to get an accurate diagnosis which will help determine the appropriate treatment. The defining symptoms for each mental illness are detailed in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5), published by the American Psychiatric Association. In many cases, a combination of treatments works best, but it all depends on the type of mental illness and its severity.

Mental illness can be treated. When someone first starts to develop symptoms of mental illness, it is important to contact a general practitioner (GP) for help. A mental health professional makes a diagnosis based on a person’s pattern of symptoms. For example, symptoms that may indicate a person is experiencing depression include feeling ‘down’ for a prolonged period, not sleeping or sleeping too much, or being unable to concentrate. Some doctors can find the symptoms confusing for the person experiencing them that they do not realist they are unwell. In this case, family or friends can visit the doctor to seek support and advice about how they can best help the person.

Many people do not know how to treat mental health. According to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, for example, spoke out about his struggles with depression, to let people know it can happen to anyone and that depression is not a sign of weakness, but he didn’t have to risk much to do so. Expert explain that there is no way to compare your mental state to someone else’s. If you’ve had a certain disorder since you can remember, it might not occur to you to seek help at that time but if the symptoms keep accruing then a person should see a doctor. This can happen with many mental health issues, including persistent depressive disorder, social anxiety disorder, avoidance personality disorder, ADHD, and others.

Previous experiences in trying to get help, or hearing horror stories of others trying to get help but falling through the cracks or having a bad experience may turn other people off getting help when they are first experiencing ill mental health. People don’t have the time or the energy to deal with these things sometimes, especially if they are busy at work all day – they simply do not want to talk about their problems. Lack of services and practicability: people from rural and remote regions may only have a very small number of services that they can access, however even when able to access them there is the added stigma of being in a small town and everybody knowing everybody else and their business, and this is a big deterrent for people who live in these areas.

However, you must be seen by a doctor for diagnosis and treatment. A mental health professional makes a diagnosis based on a person’s pattern of symptoms. For example, symptoms that may indicate a person is experiencing depression include feeling ‘down’ for a prolonged period, not sleeping or sleeping too much, or being unable to concentrate. The mental health professional will then discuss with the person what the best treatment options are for the symptoms and possible underlying causes. Sometimes, the diagnosis changes as symptoms change or as other information about the person and the illness becomes known. The most important thing is for the mental health professional to understand the symptoms so that the most helpful treatment can be selected. The one professional a person needs to see is a psychiatrist who is a medical doctor who specializes in the study and treatment of mental illness. Most people affected by mental illness have been recommended to a psychiatrist at some stage of their illness. Those more seriously affected may have to see a psychiatrist more than others.

Psychiatry is the branch of medicine focused on the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mental, emotional and behavioral disorders. A psychiatrist is a medical doctor (an M.D. or D.O.) who specializes in mental health, including substance use disorders. Psychiatrists are qualified to assess both the mental and physical aspects of psychological problems that is why people seek psychiatric help for many reasons. The problems can be sudden, such as a panic attack, frightening hallucinations, thoughts of suicide, or hearing “voices.” Or they may be more long-term, such as feelings of sadness, hopelessness, or anxiousness that never seem to lift or problems functioning, causing everyday life to feel distorted or out of control.

Mental illness refers to a wide range of disorders that affect mood, thinking and behavior. Mental illness can affect anyone regardless of age, gender, social standing, religion or race/ethnicity and it also can affect a person family as well. People with mental illness often experience distress and problems functioning at work, home and in social situations. Mental illness is not something the person can “overcome with willpower,” and can be caused by biological factors such as genes or brain chemistry, trauma and abuse, and family history of mental illness.

Mental illness, also called mental health disorders, refers to a wide range of mental health conditions — disorders that affect your mood, thinking and behavior. Depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, eating disorders and addictive behaviors. Are all example of mental illness. Mental health concern becomes a mental illness when ongoing signs and symptoms cause frequent stress and affect your ability to function. A mental illness can make you miserable and can cause problems in your daily life, such as at school or work or in relationships. In most cases, symptoms can be managed with a combination of medications and talk therapy (psychotherapy).

Feedback Reflection

Feedback from Writing Activity 2:

Your outline is thorough, and you should be able to develop your essay based on this outline. Note, however, that as you continue to work on your essay, you will develop the outline more fully. your thesis statement is a good beginning and will guide your essay. It may change as you continue to draft the essay, but that will be fine. However, remember that the thesis statement is one sentence. Does your thesis statement need editing? your draft is a good beginning; you will continue, I am sure, developing and revising the paragraphs as you develop the essay, but you have a very good beginning. Good beginning. Remember, however, to edit carefully; if there are too many formatting, grammar, and/or mechanical errors, the message will not be conveyed to the reader. Review SWS formatting for the source list in ch. 3.6. Check the grammar appendices in the web-text; use Grammarly and/or tutor.com to help with grammar, essay and thesis structure, and SWS formatting. Both are free to you.

How Feedback Was Used:

I will continue to make my essay base on my topic I am writing about. I made sure that I have a good beginning. I will also check my grammar through grammarly. Make sure I stay in SWS formatting style writing.

How Feedback Will Help You with Future Writing:

It will most helpful in my further writing classes. It will help me stay focus on the topic and how to write my essay with good feedback from the professor.
