Final assignment: Presentation and Script
DUE DEC 12rd, by 11:59pm.
In this final assignment, you will individually have the opportunity to bring together many of the key ideas and themes we have explored during the various units of the course. Your final project has three components: (1) a presentation (preferably using Prezi) (2) a PDF “script” of the narration of your presentation, and (3) an audio recording of your presentation. You may use any visual presentation software (ex., PowerPoint, Prezi, etc.) you like to create your presentation although we recommend trying Prezi since the visual affordances of this software will allow you to .
You must audio record yourself presenting your slides and submit this file as well (it must be clear which slides correspond to your narration and you can time your slides to advance automatically with your narration).
In total, your presentation should be approximately four to eight minutes long (NOTE: This corresponds to about 6-8 double spaced pages of written text).
Again, remember, you will turn in your final presentation, a PDF of your script (using in-text citations and references), and a recording of your presentation.
Drawing upon the course resources as well as other resources you find relevant, please address the following, drawing upon course readings, lectures and other resources:
Explain how you understand the phenomena of globalization and justice globalism.
What are some of the most compelling implications of globalization for education? Please consider the following when addressing this question:
In the context of globalization, how can education promote justice and cultural pluralism?
In what ways, if any, can we learn from “best practices” in education and apply these lessons in other places? (for example, you might take the case of Finland and/or the Brookings Millions Learning Project)?
Given the extreme levels of inequality in the world and increasing rate of environmental degradation, what role might education play in shaping alternative worldviews and/or discouraging materialism/consumerism.
Finally, describe how you might apply some of these ideas in your future work or studies.
Our expectation is that you will spend roughly 10-15% of your assignment addressing the first question, and between 40-45% of your assignment on each of the second two questions (in other words, those will make up the “bulk” of your work).

Note: As we mentioned before, we expect that you to record audio voiceover to narrate your slides, and it would be helpful if you could embed (brief) videos and other images that support you argument and analysis. We hope that this assignment will provide an opportunity for you to use a variety of modalities to present a response to these questions.
We recommend you first write a “script” responding to the questions posed above and then work on your presentation to visually support your ideas. Finally, once your presentation is complete, you can record the audio and set the timing of the slides so that one can “play” and “watch” your final assignment.
Your assignment will be evaluated on the criteria below
Criteria
Poor (F or D)
Fair (C)
Good (B)
Excellent (A)
Clarity of ideas (2)

Work appears to have been done quickly with little emphasis on quality. Appears to quote at times but provides no documentation/citation.

Selects 1-2 references with limited integration of references into paper. Uses standard citation format.
Uses a standard citation format, cites 3 or more appropriate sources to effectively integrate and assimilate material. Reference to course concepts makes argument stronger and purposeful. Includes a complete works cited page in the script.
Visual appeal/multimodality (3)
Poor composition; chaotic arrangement of images, shapes, text in the available space
Some attention to composition; some arrangement of images, shapes, text, etc.; more visual elements would add to the presentation
Uses different ‘modes’ (i.e., text, shapes, images) in order to convey some specific ideas.
