That model will assess help in assessing the patients readiness to change their behavior. This model helps in teaching behavioral changes by assessing their readiness the nurse can make her teaching plan geared to what level they are currently on. The nurse can make a plan that will assist the patient with learning to promote health and live a better lifestyle. The nurse will need to work through the barriers the patient has such as ESL, SES, and a persons educational level or understanding can effect them from learning. Some people only know what they where taught through culture or experience and not fully understand the reasoning behind things. A patient may be highly intelligent in their field of expertise but totally in capable of understanding anything medically. It is a whole new world for some people. But if the patient is ready to learn and ready to change their lifestyle it will be beneficial to them. Between the nurse and the patient a educational plan can be established that is personal to their understanding and their medical needs.
