Research Essay must include and show evidence of the following:
• Evidence of reflection and analysis.

1. Possible Title: Write it in a way that generalizes your study (Example: The role of a director in supporting team development within a diverse ECE setting).
2. Introduction: What is the story you will tell? Rationale/motivation, Why is this story important (the ‘so what’ factor)?
• Hypothesis: Set the stage for what you believe, have noticed, and will attempt to show
• Participants and Setting of data gathering and observations
3. Library Research: Experts, research, developmental guidelines, and knowledge (theoretical context) used to support your data and hypothesis. For your outline briefly describe how they support your study or developmental profile. Evidence of a minimum of 3 class data connections and one outside source.
4. Data Collection Methods: list, and briefly describe how data tools from this class will be used to give credibility to your thesis. Think about what other forms of data will you use (drawings, notes, specific checklists, audio tape, graphs, etc)? List and describe.
5. Data Analysis: How you interpret the data and find themes/categories within your data. You must show evidence of at least 3 of the tools used in class for documentation and assessment.
6. Findings: Discuss a minimum of three pertinent themes/categories found as a result of thorough data analysis. Bring the reader back to your thesis/hypothesis
