Assignment Instructions
Purpose of Assignment: As future leaders in healthcare, you will need to be vigilant about trends on the horizon. Technology is constantly evolving and can bring innovation as well as challenges to care delivery. Choose one of the emerging technology topics below, conduct research in the literature, write an introduction and background. Then discuss the technology’s potential benefits or drawbacks in healthcare as well as any other issues that you discover in your research. A key portion of the paper is for you to discuss three (3) strategies that leaders will need to embrace and manage the technology. See the requirements below for specifics on form and style.

-Telehealth (You may use Telemedicine, Tele–Mental Health, Telehealth, or all of the above)
-Virtual Reality in Patient Care
-Use of 5G in Healthcare Delivery
Requirements for the paper:

Level 1 APA Headings Required for the Final Paper

Abstract (1/2 page)
Should be no more than 150 words and is typically written after the entire paper is complete.
Introduction & Background (2 pages maximum)
Include the Research or Thesis Question in this section
Literature Review (2 -3 pages)
Benefits & Challenges (2 -3 pages)
Leadership Strategies (3 pages)
Conclusion (1/2 page)
References

This paper should include a minimum of 10 peer-reviewed sources (e.g. journals). Textbooks maybe included but as an FYI are not peer-reviewed.
Peer-reviewed sources used in this paper cannot be more than 5 years old.
Do not cite or use Wikipedia, general websites, blogs, or online magazine articles, or opinion pieces. Sources must be peer-reviewed!

Research Paper Instructions

Students will write a scholarly paper that is a minimum of 8-10 pages in length (8-10 pages excluding the title page, abstract, and reference page)

References may be found in the APUS library or search engines such as Google Scholar. The paper must include at least five, peer-reviewed sources that cover your chosen topic from the list below. Keep in mind that 5 is the minimum. A good quality research paper usually contains in excess of 10. Sources should be less than 10 years old and if using statistical data, it should be less than 5 years old. Do not forget to use in text citations to credit your sources.

Note that references used for your research need to be peer-reviewed/scholarly journals. These journals typically have the following characteristics:

1. articles are reviewed by a panel of experts before they are accepted for publication;
2. articles are written by a scholar or specialist in the field;
3. articles report on original research or experimentation;
4. are often published by professional associations;
5. utilize terminology associated with the discipline.

Use of newspapers, news magazines, and similar periodicals must be kept to a minimum, and will be acceptable only as sources for supplementary information.

References like “Wikipedia,” “Psychology Today,” and “Court TV” are not primary sources, are not peer reviewed (reviewed for empirical integrity, accuracy, and authenticity), and are not appropriate references for scholarly writing (with the possible exception of use for anecdotal background information).
