Let’s pick burnout to measure the mental health of a person. Stress, burnout and hapiness are three interrelated phenomenon.There are some measures for measuring burnout but I will prefer gold standard which is also called as Maslach Burnout Inventory. It measures three dimensions of burnout: emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and personal accomplishment. These three dimensions have different scales and measures to know the burnout of a person. Emotional exhaustion have 9 items where greater scale is for higher burnout, in the similar way depersonalization have 5 items which measures an unfeeling and impersonal response toward recipients of one’s service, care, treatment, and instruction. Higher the scale means higher burnout. Personal accomplishment have 8 items which measures feelings of competence and successful achievement in professional life, lower score means higher burnout.
