What major water projects (aqueducts etc.) supply southern California with water? 2. What city does water from the Hetch Hetchy Reservoir supply? 3. What is water marketing? 4. Do you detect any bias in this video?—————————————————————————END ASSIGNMENT A—————————————————————————Assignment B – California Water Issues – —————————————————————————After reviewing the short video on the California water story, pick one issue to discuss. It could be personal, or something that has been in the news lately that has repercussions for southern California (i.e. Orville Dam), or something you want to learn more about. We all use water, but do we understand how much water has to be imported locally to support our lifestyle?Instructor’s example: The water issue that I choose to discuss is the awareness of our current drought situation. From my research on tree mortality in local forests, I know that we have been in a drought for many years, but yet when I am in my neighborhood in Upland it is as if no one is aware or cares. In Claremont many residents have converted their yards to desert landscaping, because their water company raised the rates so high. In Upland however, we have been slow to react to the crisis. Homes still sport large, green lawns. Local homeowners were upset when a section of lawn along a local roadway was converted to drought tolerant landscaping. Yet I was shocked two summers ago when I visited Huntington Lake (actually a reservoir) and it was empty! I understand that the rainfall last winter has helped the situation, but we are still in a long term drought situation. What do you think? Have any of you changed your water habits, whether in landscaping or other water usage habits??Thank You
